Edited by: DrefsabZN on 04/08/2009 14:23:17 As far as I remeber CCP dont use the eve client for most of the vid's they have sepecial rendering software tools, If anyone remembers the Day of Darkness 2 video, the guy that made that was invited to CCP to use their tools to make the vid.
"I thought I'd ask CCP if they could help out with the locations of some complexes to use on Sisi [the "Singularity" test server]. Instead they invited me over to their offices and let me have a tinker with the software they use for making their own vids," says Lauthris.

I brought this issue up before, though the shadows I had seen were a lot more jagged. I was certain that something was wrong but was assured it was inherent to the technology they're using. Apparently when the shadows first came in, they allowed users to modify the size of their shadowmap and thus reduce the pixellated nature of the shadows but everyone just turned it up so high their graphics cards couldn't handle it.

I made that, but it still doesn't work. I launch EVE, but it's aliased. What version of the driver have you please ? I used 190.38, I tried a lot of solutions I found on the net and here, but no one worked. I don't understand...

For ATI/AMD, if you want something that manages profiles etc very well, I'd suggest ATi Tray Tools, the latest version can be found here : http://cid-a50350ea7a969f0c.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/attsetup.exe
In fact, I'd always suggest people use the display driver only driver package (the one without CCC) and instead use ATT, as it is superior in every useful way. |

186.35 On Windows 7 with a GTX 275
Don't try alot of solutions you found on the net, any 3rd party software that plays with driver settings are alomst always more trouble than they are worth. Everything that NVIDIA supports with their card will be an option in the official control panel.
What don't you get?
Follow my instructions, if you followed my instructions you will get the result.

I followed your instructions (ALL your instructions :p), and it still doesn't work. Same driver, same config, same OS, with a 8800GT. I launch in fullscreen mode, no AA ingame :/ |

Your using newer drivers then me, so I'm not sure. I don't plan to update mine unless it comes through as an optional Windows Update, but by that time, It's likely I would have moved onto the Windows 7 RTM.
Also, I'm not sure a 8800GT will handle the settings I have suggested while keeping decent performance.
Are you sure there is no difference at all? I find that hard to believe. Make sure that you have set it to override application level AA, not enhance it. If you leave it to enhance and have HDR enabled in game it will not allow AA.
Anyways, I don't have enough knowledge to help you anymore. So many different things may be the problem. Sorry.

While we're on the topic of nVIDIA's new drivers, I think I should give a heads up. I'm not sure if they have any setting issues with EVE (I was able to play it fine with those drivers), however when I had them installed several other games had crippling issues. Games using Valve's Source Engine couldn't start at all. -----

as i never get used to AA and stuff, here comes a noob question..
Does it matter if i run EVE in windows mode instead of full-screen? Does AA then still works?

I have a ATI HD4870 and used to run AA and everything looked very good. Only problem were the crashes. Took me awhile to figure our that it was the AA being turned on that was causing the crashes. Turned AA off and no problems with crashes for 6-8 months now.

AA works in both fullscreen and windowed mode on ATI cards. I don't know if it has been fixed recently but on nVidia it used to only work in fullscreen.
Oh and here are a bunch of screenshots I grabbed at full resolution and 16xAA and 16xAF before I got rid of my 8800GTX cards:
They are about 2.5MB each.

This does not work for me. Win7 x64 RC1,driver version 185.85, Geforce 9600GT.
At first I tried with slightly different settings (4x AA and such), but it did not work. Then I copied your settings exactly, which by all accounts should slow my system to a crawl, yet I still got the same VSync-limited FPS and the same pixellated edges on everything.
Did you set anything other than default values for any of the other settings? - |

Hmm, question for everyone involved... did you actually install EVE on the OS you are currently using, or are you running it from a program folder you have left from before you changed OSes?
Maybe it doesn't "eat" the settings properly unless it's anchored in the registry... - |

Also make sure it points to eve.exe and exefile.exe in the executables area of nHancer.

You should try 186.18 or even 182.50
But for me, in windowed mode, AA+HDR is a no go (AA is not working with HDR enabled). So i play with AA and "just" bloom.
AnywayI hope CCP will release "high resolution" textures one day...like in the trailers.

I'm putting together a small guide with screenshots and explanations in the hope it will help those that know nothing about the NVIDIA control panel.
Keep an eye on the forums, it will be posted in the next couple of hours.
