Basic problem: The capacitor of my hulk doesn't recharge as it should.
Sometimes while mining I've noticed that my capacitor doesn't recharge as it should. Usually this have occured when my connection has been less than good so I've attributed it to lag. However I've lately started getting it when not having issues with the connection which leads me to think that there might be something else that is the problem.
According to all tools I have the hulk is cap stable, especially as I turned of all the strip-miners and the cap was still not recharging, the fitting tool says 39% and eft 43%.
Couldn't find this as a known issue but as it sometimes is cap stable and sometimes not (and no cap neuts) it strikes me as a technical issue.

Are you sure it's not just a display bug? Try cycling your lasers until they shut off due to cap, then wait a minute or so and try again. If they don't turn on again, then it's a bug.
Hovering your mouse over the capacitor readout shows the numbers as well. You should see it going up by some amount, especially when your cap is low.

also all fitting tools calculate cap usage & recharge on a "per second" basis. This calculates an average, which will often show a cap stable setup. But when you activate ALL your mining lasers, and your tank at the same second they all drain their cap in one big gulp thereby breaking the magical 33% barrier, from which your cap recharge never recorvers.
Instead you should stack your cap usage, for long duration modules like miners with 2-3 minute cycles you should activate one miner, wait 20-30 seconds and then activate the next one, wait 20-30 seconds and then activate the last one.

As said above if you break the 25-33% peak recharge barrier your stability will break. Many tanks can be stable for longer by staggering modules. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

Display bug, perhaps, weird one though since it shuts down strips and tank when it reaches rock bottom.
Cycling (what I call staggering) the strip miners, yes already do that.

second option:
your calculating cap stability based on the built in "all level 5" skill character, and not your own, which has crap support skills?

Nope. It is cap stable most of the times and the miner has good skills. It is not all of the time just some of the times, had it been at all times I would attribute it to skills or similar but as it happens sometimes without apparent cause i'm confused.

Firstly figure out if its an actual cap bug (I.e drain cap completely then wait and try activating modules). If they reactivate but the display still shows 0 (or very low cap) it is a sign your CMOS battery on the mobo is possibly needing replaced. Eve uses your system clock for all calculations, and if your system clock is even a few milliseconds out of sync then wierd things can happen ingame. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008
