My idea is to make the skiff into a dedicated Gas Harvester
The Machinaw is the Ice Miner and the Hulk is the Asteroid Miner so why not give the Skiff a 500% bonus to yield for the Gas Harvester and give this little ship a purpose.

It already has a purpose. It is limited. It might be stupid. But it exists, and it is to mine mercoxite in 0.0.

I tend to agree, hence the "It might be limited/stupid." This might be semantics, but basically the skiff doesn't need a role, but a different role.. Its role is just kinda broken since another ship (though more expensive) can do the same thing better. But then I could same thing about putting 8 t2 miners on a rokh being as good if not better than a retriever  . A change in roles could be nice for Mr. Skiff.

i dont know, the skiff works well for me as it is, mining in hostile Low/Nul and warping away even IF some ceptor locks and scrambles me.

Not supported.
You would be better just to ask for new exhumer class ship for gas mining instead of re-tasking what i would suggest is already a widely used ship (skiff) to a specialized mining field (gas harvesting).

Yes mining Mexcorite, something a Hulk does just as good, what is the point of bringing in a whole new ship when we can just use the ones we have
