Where does antimatter come into it? A Photon torpedo is simply the entire energy of a mass conversion focussed. The Real world design involves placing a nuclear weapon at the focus of a perfect parabolic mirror... As it is using light as its damaging factor (hence Photon) it would mimic the damage types of the lasers, predominantly EM.

Can't believe no one posted this, but a Cylon raider is very easy to make: the malediction looks just like it and can fit similar weapons:
2x150mm autocannons 2xstandard missile launcher
I guess an afterburner, scram, and web
Then speed mods in the lows since those things are fast.

Daredevil or Dramiel would make a better Cylon raider. Much closer to the shape.

Well as long as it doesn't have to look like Enterprise a Hound with Torpedos and lasers would work. Not sure which damage type photon torpedoes would do though.
photons would be EM damage
photon torps are delivery systems for antimatter warheads which would make them explosive.

you have your sf worlds confused. what you describe is a bomb pumped laser typically used in the honour harrington universe. the trek photon torp is an antimatter warhead. discussed both in the series and the tech manuals.

No, not getting my sci-fi worlds mixed up... just dealing with the science. Most of Star Trek's original technology is a class 1 impossibility and that's the theory behind it. More recently things have drifted towards class 2 but still... The warhead type though is unimportant, that it sits in a parabolic reflector and doesn't leave the ship is the important factor. --
