Hi all, just wodering as I am currently saving up for a Hyperion and training for t2 large rails . Got myself a t2 sentry fitted domi but have been finding it a bit repetitive lately and am looking for a bit more spice so to speak, cant seem to find a decent mission running hyperion fit tho !
Any perticular reason for this or should I just stick with my Domi ??
Cheers in advance for any helpfull replys

tbh the Hyperion is like the stepchild CCP never wanted and didn't bother trying to help/fix.

Hyperion is a fine stationhugging ship, but just plain sucks in pve.

Navy megathron costs more but it's worth every penny. If you're sticking with gallente you'll end up there sooner or later. The hyperion has only 6 lows; this means you can't really fit it for large tank AND gank like you can a navy mega, you get one or the other. That said, 3 mag stabs, 1 faction LAR, and 2 hardeners is in fact enough for tons of missions. The only advantage it has over a navy mega is fitting 8 turrets instead of 7 but at the cost of the tracking bonus.

Agreed. A navy blaster-thron has an awesome tank and I think a very respectable DPS output. I used 1-2 heavy missile mods to compensate for the hype's ability to load x8 guns.

The hyperion is quite frankly a terrible choice for missions. Sure, it gets a tank bonus, but its also a low slot short compared to the dominix, megathron, navythron (2x short compared to this), or Kronos.
Additionally, the thron, navythron and Kronos all get tracking bonuses to large hybrid guns, which really helps make your DPS more consistent in missions. Using a Kronos and a tracking computer with the tracking speed script, I can hit cruisers with 425mm rails if they're not too close. If they are too close, that's what the overloaded gallente navy web is for.
Dominix is also a very fine mission running ship. Look up the sentry dominix configs for something to fly while you get your gunnery support skills worked up for the thron and its variants.

Hmm I must be doing something wrong ... I've been flying a Hyper for the last 6 months in lowsec running plexes, and it works for me. My low slots (with blasters) are 2 Faction LAR, and 4 rat specific hardeners, and I put out 630 DPS ( this is my Angel fit) and it tanks at 1435 (sustained)
Against Guristas, my lows are 1 Faction LAR, 3 Kinetic Hardener II's, Gallente Navy MFS, and Power Diagnostic II. The Highs are 7x 425 Rail II's and the DPS on this is about 560, tank is 722 and its cap stable. And it melts Guristas.
The drone bay I usually fit 2 flights of 5x Light Scouts II (warriors vs angels and hornets vs guristas) and one flight of 5x Med Scout II - these will take care of all frigs and cruisers.
That said, I may try and play around with EFT and the Navy Mega, and see what I get. I went with the Hyper initally because I had good armor repping skills and I wanted the armor bonus. I will fly the Domi, but I am waiting for t2 Heavies before I outfit one. The only specific problem I have had with the Hyper was hitting the 30 km + orbiting Angel BS, the med drones took way too long to kill them if they could.

It's not that you're doing anything wrong, it's just not as efficient. If you enjoy the hype more power to you but the reality is that if you switched to a mega/navy you'd be running missions faster and use less ammo.

In my experience, while the Hype is a capable ship, it's nowhere near the rail boat that the Mega is (and especially the Navy Mega, which is my favourite ship to run missions in). They Hype having only 6 lows hurts your DPS and tank, the extra mid you get is not nearly as useful in PVE.
The Hype also lacks enough grid to fit a full rack of 425mm guns without you losing more low slots with fiting mods, or losing rig slots for ancillary current routers, or using named instead of tech II. And that even with max fitting skills, without good fitting skills you have no chance of getting them on. And without the tracking bonus that the Mega has, the 425s are probably no better than 350mm in performance anyways (you won't see this reflected in the raw DPS figures in EFT, by the way). 350mm guns also eat ammo. Mega can fit bigger guns, use them more efficently, and has more lows.
Domi doesn't even have to fit guns to put out good DPS, allowing you to use all your lows for tank if you like and giving you a lot more versatility. You can also use the overtank option on the Domi of 2 LAR, another thing you'll struggle to fit on the Hype without making too many compromises with your gun's DPS.
TL;DR version: - The Domi can (in practice) fit a better tank and is also a much more versatile ship. - The Mega is a better gunboat, Navy Mega even more so. - The Hype isn't awful, but it's sub-optimal in PVE as either tank or gank compared to the other two Gallente BS.
