I was happy to find a nice site for Hacking. First i killed all rats, then come back with a better ship for hacking and found nice loot. They were lots of containers, but after i opened the second one, rats appear trying to kill me. I docked at station, switched to my fighting ship and warped back.
Guess what happened !
The whole site disappeared completly !
All buildings were gone, all rats gone.
And this is not the first time, its a bug in my opinion due to changes in one of the last patches !

It is not a bug. As soon as you open a container the site is marked as complete and despawns the instant everyone warps out. Either bring a ship that can fight and hack or bring a friend/alt that can sit in the site and tank the rats while you change ships so it doesn't despawn.

I have no ship which can do both. I have no friend who is always there, when i want to do missions like this, at least i dont want that someone comes many jumps to me just to sit there doing nothing and help me that the site doesnt disappear. I was able to do missions like this solo in the past.
In my opionion its a bug. ccp messed the way how sites disappear and nobody thought about the consequences of this special type of sites. This is just stupid.

Well your opinion is wrong. You should try fitting a code breaker to a tougher ship. ------------------- Always remember this about EVE:

Edited by: Nathan derWeise on 09/08/2009 22:58:06 The solution could be much easier: Instead of marking the first one the last container should be marked. Or a mission site should just stay there for at least half an hour.

It's been requested before, mainly because if you lose connection in the middle you'll lose the site. However, you do need a tougher ship. Is this hi-sec? A cruiser does fine for them. So does an Assault Frigate if you've trained that high. I'd recommend a Heavy Assault or a Battlecruiser for low-sec. I've run a number of high and low sec radar sites in a Caracal, Drake, or Harpy. All it takes is one mid slot for a Codebreaker. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

You know the type of site it is so its easy to fit a module to a combat ship. Its one mid slot, that's all. I only ever use my scanning ship to scan, my BC does the actual site. Most sites only have a few cans/wrecks so its not much of a time loss.
Also as said its not a bug. Its important it despawns asap to stop others wasting their time on it once its cleared out.

I find it rather impressive however you manage to kill the rats , warp out & change ship which atleast should take around 1 minute to complete and still be able to come in the site without it being despawned, as for me these few moments i had this same deswpaning thing, they despawned always within 30 seconds.
Maybe thats the chance CCP made then, a little bit longer wait before despawning, or just killing the rats doesnt trigger the despawn timer anymore but just the tampering with the cans ...

The solution is already easy. As others have said, fit a codebreaker to your combat ship.

Find the site, bookmark it. Get combat ship with codebreaker, do site.
In my situation, an alt is the covops pilot finding the site. He jettisons the bookmark, and I log out. Log on with main, get bookmark, and proceed to site.
If you think this through and adapt, you'll be fine.
