So, I've recently begun playing Eve online, I created some characters to see which each race had and such. Well, I just made a [spellcheck]minmatar[/spellcheck] and did some missions. Now I want to delete him to see what Amaar is like, but I feel pretty bad by "killing" my character. inb4 "you're killing other guys in space all the time", but this doesn't feel like just deleting a character, more like executing him. I guess it's because it's supposed to be some kind of logic by deleting a character, and maybe to make hacking and deletion of characters harder. Maybe it's because you can exploit it somehow. But couldn't you change "termination" to something else? Like if he's retiring or something xD
I have my firesuit and a fireextinguisher, so Im ready to take your flaming on! discuss

it's only the looks that differs between the races nowdays so "trying out Amarr" won't get you anything different apart from the looks (and rookie corp perhaps).

P.S: also as chribba said, the only difference it's the starter skills and attributes, but you can train any skill you wish anyway -------------------------------------- You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with 'til you understand who's in ruttin' command here. |

Really, it's a good thing - the valuable biomass you're donating to the empire will help next time some poor noob gets himself podkilled and needs a new clone.

Pffft. Yeah, who needs "setting" and "backstory" and "immersion" in a role-playing game? While we're at it, pretending to be a character flying spaceships is for nerds anyway. They should just change it to a game about different colored geometric shapes shooting lines at each other. They could change the name to Geometry Online.

Coincidentally this very same thing already exists on the XBox 360. I saw my brother playing it when I went to visit my parents over the weekend and he was playing this game. It played some what similar to that old game Asteroids, but you had a lot more control over your "ship" (a geometric shape) and the enemies where other geometric shapes. Some of them even broke apart like the asteroids in that game Asteroids, but then they'd start chasing you.
It was called Geometry Wars.

Yes, I'm aware. It's a pretty fun game. It's actually a lot more like Robotron than Asteroids.
It's not Eve, however.

At our current tech level immersion is a sign of mental defect.

Guess I did the right thing to have my flamesuit on. Well, what I was trying to say was that I thought it was pretty hardcore to "execute" one of your characters instead of just deleting it. Maybe Im not hardcore enough,

So I now killed my poor Gallentian female, is there custom screams for male when you kill them too? I thought it was pretty hardcore, like getting eaten by Teh Hievmidn (It's coded so it won't be any plot spoilers) in deadspace, like 1 minute long death sequence with screams and everything, and that's horror game :o Anyway, pretty hardcore, do not really want

By the way, I wonder if they could do some cinematic clip to this sound, It sounds like they seal the person in a metalcage and then it's transported down a railway and you can hear the person scream as they are shipped into the void ahead. But if that was the case, I wouldn't terminate any characters xD
