The keynotes will reveal if CCP will focus on Eve (hopefully with a new project, maybe a surprise like the t3 ships and wormholes, just bigger) or announce that they now mainly work on WoD, which is great for WoD but not so great for Eve. A long period of stagnation in innovation and development can be the end of Eve, in this fast paced Mmo industry.
It's going to be a console project, without a doubt. You don't need to do a lot of research to uncover that CCP has done agressive hiring in the console field.
And it's going to be making use of the EVE IP. WoD has already been announced, hence it's not going to be that.
Is anybody else than me going to be at scene at GDCE?

Originally by: Ares Vakan Have to agree with the poster above me. At a corporate level activity is low during the summer. People go on vacations, want to be outside more, spend time in real life, etc. Once it gets cold again, college people return to school it will pickup again like it always has. EVE is doing just fine, imo.
Indeed.
People are going to be back and doing FW this month or maybe next, as Apocrypha 1.5 launches. That's going to spike the numbers.
December is going to bring us 0.0 warfare changes. Going to be more people back too.
Next spring we are going to see Walking In Stations most likely. Another spike in numbers will be seen there.
It's a cycle. Can't do a lot about it.

Originally by: Tamahra The new "secret" project they are going to announce is "Dust 514", a PS3/X-Box based first person shooter. It is of course related to the EVE universe, hence the Eve-style logo of "Dust 514".
That's the assumption based on what was shown at FF08. But I'd like to think that it's a lot more complex than that.

But unfortunately this wont be the case. Id rather walking on planets, than a standalone console game.
How do you know?
I have interacted with some of the people who's actively progressing the EVE IP and planning the future of EVE as a brand. I couldn't imagine they would leave it as a stand-alone shooter.
If it does turn out to be a FPS that has no sort of ties to TQ and the overall experience which we have in EVE right now, I'd be disappointed. But I can't imagine it happening.

Lets get away with this idea that it's going to be stand-alone.
Executive Producer Position Lead Programmer Position Senior Graphics Programmer Position Senior Network Programmer Position Senior Game Play Programmer Position
Note how they all say MMO console project.

Read more here, and join up on the fun:
Linkage
This guy seems legit .
Only that the options are unlikely. So it is vulnerable to foul play.

Originally by: Vyktor Abyss All the positions linked by La Vista appear to be in Shanghai, which I'm guessing makes it likely it is a China specific project, or something to do with the China Eve servers.
I'd expect Hilmar to say very little new regarding Eve - More talk of Walking in Stations, World of Darkness and Eve continuing to progress as it has done the last 5 or 6 years. Why are you expecting some landmark shift in focus of CCP from one keynote speech?
As long as Eve is making money it will keep being developed.
Apocrypha was the first expansion which was made between Atlanta, Reykjavik and Shanghai. When I was at CCP HQ in January, I saw that they obviously had equipment to do voice and video conferencing between these 3 locations.
CCP wouldn't want to do a china-specific project. It's much more likely that they are just focusing the new project's development in China.

Originally by: Yakia TovilToba Hmm interesting thoughts, if i got you right you think there will be a console/FPS game (Dust 541) that is somehow connected to Eve. Maybe walking in stations will be the first step, the preparation or the link for it ? Or the planetary expansion ? You land on a planet, play the FPS game on the surface and can return back to space anytime, while having certain links between the games (shared sp training, shared currency maybe).
That's kinda what the speculation revovles around.
A game which does NOT interact with TQ at all would make me sad. CCP can in my opinion not handle a third project like that.
The option of planetary wars is really cool. Planetside is an example of it done semi-right in a way that EVE could use it.
However implementing the game into interacting with TQ could be a challenge. It also faces problems in regards to how a console game, which has a quite different audience, is going to interact with the eve-online community. And it also raises a lot of questions in my mind about the viability of having the markets itneract with each other. Will there be new ISK faucets in the new game? Will there be ACTUAL losses in there? Will these planets be harvest-able? I.e will there be new resources which can be used?
Very complex stuff. I don't expect whatever Hilmar has to announce for another 4-5 years, unless they have held tight about it for an extensive amount of time(At least 3 years).
