Poasts like this are why everyone flames the majority of whine topics.

Wasn't in RMR. I joined "officially" shortly after RMR, and i remember being here during the expansion which brought it in since it became my No.1 most used feature whilst i was learning about faction items and meta levels.
Edit: UNLESS! it came in with the Bloodlines Mini-Expansion during RMR. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Needing to reboot computers is a sign of crap software, not a crappy OS. (Professional developer for 20+ years)
Said reboots refer to memory leaks. EVE's reboots are because some tables in the database can't be worked on while the players are hammering them. OS is irrelevant. DB system would be more relevant but the same problem would exist in DB2, mySQL, Oracle and any other system you care to name. 20k to 50k players in the same table just doesn't mix and match with maintenance duties.
Originally by: Grez Any info's as to what you expect the upgrade to achieve?

You miss them? You obviously missed the one a few months back detailing what this upgrade is expected to achieve.

Originally by: Dev Blog We can also utilize a new feature of SQL Server 2008 to prevent reporting, websites, maintenance or the API from affecting Tranquility negatively. The feature is called Resource governor and would for example allow us to prevent the API to use more than 10% CPU or 10 GB RAM. It also allows prioritization of workloads, so for example, the websites would have priority over the API while Tranquility would have priority over everything. If we'd have a run-away query on the websites, it would not take Tranquility down.
Hrmm, So did CCP just admit that mass spamming of the api function can currently take tq down or seriously degrage performance? Might explain a few things if other players with access to lots of willing members figured this out..

Isn't there a one hour per API key request limit or something likewise in place? Pretty sure there is anyway. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

One can hope though I'm pretty sure I have fired up evemon to check some skills then logged on to change them and immediatly hit the refresh button on the evemon screen to update with the new skills. But even with an hour between access it still wouldn't stop several hundred to possibly thousands all doing it at the same time. Given how willing people are even in large groups to cheat this is probably the explination for so many fleet fights killing the node or other odd instances of tq going belly up right when it was a great benefit to a defender. /tinfoil..

There is on the wallet and transactions stuff, but not skills and other APIs. However, they're cached for an hour, so it's senseless to update more than once an hour anyway.

The postponed SQL upgrade can't have resulted in any changes since it was postponed. We are now planning it in early September, after we deploy Apocrypha 1.5.

The patch is scheduled for the 17th or 24th, depending on the polishing/pre-fixes from the testing. The SQL upgrade would then be 2-3 weeks later after the patch has stabilized. At least that's what I'm guessing. -------- Ideas for: Mining
