So I loaded up eve just now and one of the first things that I noticed was that the graphics were bugging out a little. Everything was offset by a few millimetres; so if I hovered the mouse over the close icon on a window it would register as being over the edge of the window instead (thus trying to get me to adjust the size of the window rather than close it.) Additionally text that I typed into chat was stretched vertically.
All rather odd I thought so I quit and started up the client again. This time the client window size was messed up (I play in windowed mode). I tried going into the settings to adjust it but that just made things worse. I couldn't get the resolution to fit my screen properly. What had been fine before (the same resolution that my monitor is set to) was now stretching off of the bottom of my screen and obscuring the task bar.
'Bloody wonderful' I think to myself and try closing down the client again. And now? Now the client won't even load properly. It starts up, it's there on the task bar but it's permanently minimised. I can even hear the audio but the client won't un-minimise and the traditional reset of my machine hasn't done the trick. So now I'm stuck with no eve and the distinct prospect of re-downloading a rather large game and losing all of my setting in the process.
Any help would, obviously, be greatly appreciated... |

If the above shortcut doesn't work, try renaming your cache AND your settings folders (revert if it doesn't fix anything)
CACHE/Settings locations:
2000/XP C:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location Vista C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location Mac "/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online/Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility"

Well, Alt+ENTER worked in terms of un-minimising the client so thank you for that. However, the resolution issues are still there. My resolution is set to 1280x1024 in Windows and it is set to that in windowed mode in EVE but the EVE client still extends off of the bottom of my screen and obscures the task bar, something that it never used to do with those settings. It's driving me nuts, enough that I uninstalled and re-d/l'd the client this evening but it hasn't fixed the issue.
Will the renaming of my folders have any effect on that and, if not, is there anything that I can do to sort it?
Cheers.

If you current Desktop resolution is 1280x1024 and you set the EVE Client to 1280x1024 in windowed it will cover the taskbar since they are the same size..
You were probably using another resolution like 1280x960 or 1280x720. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

Nah, the resolution hasn't changed (indeed the next one down in eve is 1280 x 800, which is WAY smaller, at least vertically.) I'm actually starting to think it's something changed with the 'always keep task bar on top' option in windows. It's still set to that (having checked more than once since this started happening 3 days ago) but the damn thing is not staying on top for windowed mode eve, when it did previously. And I have no clue what to do about it, other than to swear and curse at Microsoft.
