My corp has been trying to get into the Gal. Faction militia and have been running missions, getting new players with high standings in to the corp etc.
My understanding is that corp standings are based on an average of its members who have standings, and have been in the corp for at least 7 days straight.
When i look at the politics tab it even gives me a list of members and their standings as used to create the corp to faction standing.
If I average those numbers, I get 0.39, however in game we only have 0.09.
I'm really confused and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction.

There's all sorts of cache issues when looking at your own corp's standings. Best advice I can give is to have someone (or another character of your own not in the corp) look it up for you. Or use a program like EveHQ that can pull the standings API page for your corp.

Yer i've had someone from outside the corp check and they get the same result
Its very frustrating not being able to tell how we are getting along.

Well either or is fine by us, but Gal standing is higher atm, and either way its still the problem of standings not being what they should be

It doesn't make sense. The figures are supposed to be updated each downtime. Are you sure everyone's been in corp more than 7 downtimes?
I'd suggest this: Try to get everyone to get to a data-center and cash in some tags for a qucik facion boost (you need a little more anyway to get into the militia). Get them to do it before DT. Wait until after DT and get an out of corp alt to check the standings.
If it's still borked, ask a GM to look into it via a petition, but it might take a little while to get a response. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

The "politics" tab lists ALL members who have standings, regardless of acount active/disabled status or age in corp. You have to manually "filter out" those that are less than 7 days old in your corp... and not 100% sure on this, but accounts that are inactive for at least 3 downtimes might also not be included (but like I said, that last part, I do not know for sure).

Tag-trade storylines grant very little faction standings gains, and the tags are ridiculously expensive. You would be MUCH better off directing them towards theit own tutorial and career funnel agents instead (assuming, hopefully, most are of the proper race, in this case Gallente, or at least a frienly race, namely Minmatar).
http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Tutorial_Agents I'm posting this as plaintext because CCP's "external link protection" destroys the link (see for yourself).

This is just a way to stimulate some movement in the faction standings quickly, and hopefully get the calculation working correctly. They only need a small boost. Trying to get all corp members to complete 16 regular missions and get storyline is unfeasible in the short time before DT. Getting at least some of them to get some movement in faction standings through tag trading was designed to beat that in the short time available.

The tutorial missions (there's 12 agents for each race) give a rough 0.2% increase (before Social skill) to faction standings, and it's completely free (heck, you actually get some ISK). You can complete all 12 in two hours or so, TOPS, out of which most is travel time between agents. The career funnel agents (there's 9 of them, three groups of 3) grant a rough 1.0% increase (befoe Social skill) on the conclusion of your last mission. If you're not a day-old newbie, you should be able to complete most (if not all) in one afternoon. After you're done with all tutorial and career funnel agents, if you had, say, at least L3 Social, you should end up somewhere between +1.10 and +1.30 faction standings for your main faction (and at least half for your "friendly" faction), which is more than you'd need for the militia either way.
Comparatively, some tag-trading missions, on top of costing you several hundred k at best (usually more like several million ISK) could grant something as low as a 0.1% increase (after a relatively high Social skill).

I know this has slipped way down the pages now.. but just in case someone comes by it at a later date with a similar question..
Inactive (unsubed) accounts are taken into account when calculating the standings.
