It may be that IÆm playing to many old game or the such but this idea popped into my head and I figured what the hey, so without further a due the hammer
The hammer is result of requests made by many a mining corp. in result of the fact that mining barges canÆt fit remote repair devices very well or in an effective manner. Hence ORE scientists went to work on designing a platform that could repair the worst of ship damage but also be effective on virtually any sub capital ship and hence the Hammer was born. The hammer is unique in that it does not fit remote repair systems like its cruise cousins. Instead it uses a rather large deployable hanger that rises out of its top. Because this extendable structure is so large the ships engines are unable to function correctly when deployed so are shut off. The use of these repair facilities works as follows.
1 badly damages ship arrives next to deployed "hammer" 2 player right clicks on said hammer and hits the dock option 3 playersÆ ship moves into a position above the hammer relative to the ship size (explained below) 4 ship locks in place (i.e. control is lost canÆt move canÆt do nothing) 5 animations of sparks and such emanates from the ships hull as structure, armor and shields are rapidly restored to normal levels, modules are repaired but due to their complexity take longer. Full restoration or armor hull and shields is 15 seconds for frigs, 30 for cruisers and 45 for BS. Modules of any type take 1 min to fully repair
6 once ship is repaired player regain control of ship and ship moves away
The Hammer has 4 main pylons that extend from its upper section and each size class of ship required different amounts Frigs require only one pylon so as many as 4 could use the Hammer at the same time Cruisers require 2 hence 2 cruisers could use the hammer at the same time Battleships and there sized counterparts require 4 so only one battle ship at a time could use the facilities

So in other words, it's a really cheap station, that costs hundreds of millions with tons of sov required, where anyone can almost instantly repair ship and mods, for free.
Let me think about it a little more.

And how is the amount of damage taken worked into this?
I don't think repairs take just as long when your armor is almost completely gone than when it is barely scratched

I like it actually, doesnt sound overpowered to me as non moving and expensive ships have some disadvantages in fleet fights. Takes LOTS of balancing though. Maybe not inside POS shields maybe? Dunno, i somehow like it, cant tell ^^ And why is there still nothing that sets content apart from signature? Is that intentional or technically imposible? |

doesnt seem too OP. If it goes into repair mode, make it like a 10 minute cycle, and repairs some one with aggro as long as it gets aggro as well id be fine with it. Have it so that the ship being repaired can't fire or activate any mods. Over all, it would make it a viable ship to take out on a far reaching trip where a mobile repair station with 4 combat ships would be a better strategy.
Timing for repairs seem okay, only thing I would say is that repair time should be close to that of a repair ship with two of each transfer.
This actually reminds me of the UNSC Cradle from fall of reach, a ship meant to actually house, refuel, refit and repair another ship or two. This would be an interesting addition to the game, if only to add variety.
Pray tell, any ideas about what skills are required? How large the ship would be?
