Except the Moa.
CCP has to redue every god damn ship in the game twice over making them all jaw dropping works of art and leave the Moa just as it is.
10 Years later when every other ship is so perfect no one on the forum or anywhere has any complaints about any of them they have to announce that they are finally updating the Moa model.
Then they have to make it even more lopsided. Why do they have to do this... Because this is EVE not WoW and just by saying that I get support no matter how bad the idea. |

Has the Raven model been updated since Trinity?
The V3 skinning of many caldari ships is really nice. The new Manticore? Fantastic. Nemesis? I think for Gallente ships it's up there with the nyx in aesthetics. |

It was pugly then, and fugly now. I don't understand why they wouldn't change the shape when they updated the model. What's the point? It still looks like a pinapple after being stuffed into a horse's rear end. Wasted manhours. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

The model's shape has been changed?! Really? Was sure it was just a new pretty V3 skin. |

There is a new model, but it's still roughly the same shape. A waste. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

Sharper edges mostly, minor model work, more antenna and a new bridge. |

I wish the Merlin would be like that, but now it's so OP that all min-maxers are going to use one. I bet CCP will be dumb enough to do the same stupid **** with the Moa and Ferox, and then they'll make the Rokh like the Naga. In solo PVP it pays to fly a ship people think under performs.

The Moa actually looks quite a bit like the giant wingless bird it was named after, if that bird was drunk and off balance.
I would not mind it being off-kilter if it was symmetrical. And I would not mind it being asymmetrical as much if it was not off-kilter. In its current form it puts my OCD into overheat with great potential for damage to the adjacent modules in my cranial rack. |

Sharper edges mostly, minor model work, more antenna and a new bridge. The Raven looks a lot heavier now. It has a similar bulkiness as the Scorpion.
The propulsion area is also considerably different. |

I'd like to keep the Moa model the same. It's a testament to the once-LEGO-like designs of the Caldari, and to be honest its aesthetic has really grown on me. |

I always thought the Moa kind of looked like Godzilla in the middle of a Mortal Combat style flying kick.

I agree that the zombie turkey has to go. Making ships weird and akward serves what purpose? Ambience?. Its like purposely designing a car to look at crap. *Down* with the weirdness.

YuuKnow wrote:On a side note, perhaps just to elaborate to the artist the 'why' of why we think the new manticore is so sexy, IMHO, its not just the aggressive styling, sleekness, and nice skinning. I also think its the way that the weapon systems in so closely integrated into the ship hull. The torp launchers are incorporated into the ship hull very naturally and give it a very potent feel. I Disagree, i believe that its all of the above that make it what it is. All of which the Moa Lacks, especially considering the new turret placement.
I'd definitely like to see more of a focused route taken on caldari visuals. As it stands now, CCP seems to be making new caldari ships semi-symetric (See: Manticore, Naga, Scorpion) as well as several old ships that are semi symetric and should maintain their basic shape (Rokh, Phoenix) in that they are lagely symetric, but with their own minor quirks and asymetries that give them alot of character, while being small enogh to maintain believability (See: Radar Dish on Naga/Scorpion and Manticore's Bridge). Personally, i feel like this is a good direction for Caldari, and would love to see more ships like this. However, the new raven model makes me question the direction CCP is taking. Guess well have to wait and see, unless someone from the art department wants to post something? I agree with this statement. Subtle asymetry likethe Manticore makes a ship unique and interesting. But the complete and utter non-sensical asymetry for the past designs is just plain ugly. CCP making ships schizophrenic and replusive detracts from the otherwise nice visuals of the game IMHO.

I was suprised when they updated the Raven they kept it looking so lopsided.
I *like* asymmetrical ships, but the Raven is podgy on one side. All it needs is for that extra spikey bit which is under the bigger wing to be swapped to the other side and made a tad smaller (under the shorter wing) and it would look rather well balanced.
The Moa, along with the Imicus, need to be taken around the back of the barn in my opinion. I don't think there's anything to salvage there. |

I must admit I enjoy the new Manticore look on top of the Scorpion update and more.
I've been away from the game about a year and when I returned I found my beloved Raven updated too. I've always hated the very sideheavy Raven and the duck ass of an engine, but the new engines on each side makes it much more balanced to look at. |
