Ive been running a lot of missions lately for Gallente and find my standings with Caldari dropping.
If my standings get too low, would that prevent me from going into Caldari space? As in would the state police attack me?

Yes, yes they will, i got like -3.6 something (after skills, before skills i have -5 something) and caldari tried to omgwtfpwnbbq my ass when i went into a 0.6... this was on the epic arc, which i did for some giggles, i took a cerb, yes it should be against the law i agree, but actually this was also the first time the coppers tried to kill me after entering a 0.6 caldari system.
So yes, beware your status doesn't get too low if u want to keep going through their space.

If your Caldari standing drops below -5.0, I believe state police, not Concord, will aggress you. I could say "and they will chase you down like the Gallente dog you are" but that would be impolite.
I've read that you can outrun them, but you may want to use your alt for your trips to Jita.

As has been said, a -5 faction standing will make the faction navy attack you. Train diplomacy to get it back up.
You still can fly through enemy space and dock at any station in a reasonable fast ship. Or any ship with a bit of tank, since they won't scramble, afaik.

Thanks for the heads up.
Is there any way to counter this? My standings are too low to even run lvl 1 missions for either faction. Even with Diplomacy.

how low are your Amarr standings? running missions for them can give a slight rise to "allied" factions

No, Police attack based on your sec status. The local Navy however will attack you if you are -5.0 to the faction though.

Aside from raising standings, try running away and/or not flying a slow-aligning ship through their space. Navy do not scramble, so you're encouraged to leave only :)
