I've made an alt the other day and i was staggered to see that the NPC corp chat channels are flooded with ISK spammers. I assume they're on trial accounts judging by their numbers. I've also seen alot in Local Chat channels
Please restrict Trial Accounts even more then now. Allow characters on Trial accounts only to speak in Rookie Channel. At least there are ISD and ISK spammers are quickly banned.
Genuine trial players would not need to speak in NPC corp channels. If they want assistance they could easily use Rookie Help or initiate a chat request with somebody. However, ISK sellers on trial accounts can easily abuse NPC chat channels and could also hurt new players that , in most cases, dont know how to block them and would not understand anything from what's going on in NPC channels.
I would go even further and block their chat capabilities even on local channels but i do admit this is a bit extreme.
Conclusion, please restrict trial accounts chat capabilities from NPC corp channels. There is no ISD there and they freely spam for hours if nobody petition them.
I hope you do something CCP ------------------------------------------------

1) Have you actually seen the Rookie Help channel recently? There's so many other idiots spamming and being stupid in the channel that requests for help get lost or unanswered. Restricting trial players from actual helpful people in the NPC corp channels is too much.
2) It's called "Block" |

block does also not work, well it does block them, but there are so many, and they recycle so fast, a new solution needs to be made tbh.
RMT despite being cracked down on is still causing alot of issues.

heres a random idea.
A player on trial cant talk in any npc channel (corp chat, rookie chat, trade channels) unless he has been vouched for by a paying member

That doesn't work, the spamming on these forums is done by paying accounts.
What could partially help new accounts (few days old) are unable to post more than (say) 100 characters of text ingame and they can only chat once every 30 seconds. Ofcourse it doesn't completely nullify the spam but at least they won't be able to clog up the channels with huge walls of text, every 3 seconds.

Keep trials away from TQ. Create a new instance (copy) on a dedicated trial server. Not that it won't stop spammage but at least they cannot create instant accounts that work right away on TQ.
That and have a 24h wait for alt chars being able to do the same things regular players can. Also gives you some time to check the account and link it to IP of spammers etc.

How about making the NPC corp chat paid access? 5000 isk if you post more than 5 times a minute, starting the sixth time?
But I suspect it's already being worked on by someone at CCP. Or it could be their way of getting people out of NPC corps.

If the server detects more than two messages with a blacklisted spam domain, it sends a warning to the player in the form of a Dialog with Ok button warning of impending ban, then the player will get a final warning the next spam message and a ban after that.

Edited by: Zartanic on 15/08/2009 04:13:10 They could easily incorporate a spam filter, WOW does it and I wasn't spammed for years there. It took a lot of moans and proof it could be done before they implemented it though. It was quite a surprise coming to EVE as Id assumed this would be common and as a noob seeing all that spam it gave a very negative impression.
Also a right click/auto report/put on hidden (so it does not clock your regular one) blacklist function is needed, again implemented with a lot of success elsewhere. This is also useful for bots.

taking away thousands of new players ability to chat with their corpmates; to socialize, make friends, get quick answers and opinions to many questions.. cuz you're too lazy to r.click -> block?

It takes all of 2 seconds to right-click and select "block". ISK sellers are not going away, and restricting newbie chat any further is just wrong.

These RMT businesses are lashing out at CCP for the mass bannings and they're lashing out hard. It's difficult to say how long this assault will last because these RMT businesses have a lot of disposable income. ______________ Stupid people are amazingly clever at being stupid. They excel at slipping through idiot proof measures. |

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who's only still playing the game because of the NPC Corp channel. It's a valuable resource for new players struggling with the game, far more so than the spam and gormlessness of the Rookie channel, which is frankly not fit for purpose.
Quote: Genuine trial players would not need to speak in NPC corp channels.
When were you a genuine trial player? As in someone who's not played the game before and wants to give it a try, rather than someone setting up a stable of free scouting alts.
Quote: If they want assistance they could easily use Rookie Help...
Maybe it's improved since my 30 days passed, but it was not easy to get help on that channel while I was a rookie.
Quote: ...or initiate a chat request with somebody...
Yeah, and get ignored for initiating a chat request out of the blue. Dead helpful, that.
Quote: I would go even further and block their chat capabilities even on local channels but i do admit this is a bit extreme.
Frankly, that's less extreme than cutting trials out of NPC chat. I've never said a word in Local, so I wouldn't have missed it.
Quote: There is no ISD there and they freely spam for hours if nobody petition them.
How do ou know? Do you just not right-click and block them? I never see a spammer more than once unless I'm returning from AFK.

This, and you could always do your bit and create an 'isk seller' petition for said account.
