You've gotta have tiny hands mate... the PS controller was comfortable to me when it first appeared but I'm not a teenager anymore, gone through growth spurts and whatnot :-p Now find it just a little too small for my hands, same with the SNES and NES controllers. Xbox 360 one just fits nice an comfortably in my hands - mind even if the DualShock 3 was a little more ergonomic, the fact is it just feels too light, cheap and nasty; even if you just compare it to the DualShock 2 controller. Honestly everytime my brother wants to play his old PS games he always prefers to get out the PS2 Slimline he has instead of using the PlayStation 3. Mind guess this is all a case of personal preference.

So, you do all realize that the game supports Keyboard/Mouse, right? And they've already said they're working on balancing the Move with the other control methods, though whether that's good or not is debatable. The d-pad got altered a few years ago, its much better than it was when the 360 first launched
Im hoping there is a way to use a wired windows gamepad (basically the wired 360 one) on the ps3 |

So your the guy that was going on about being able to use a keyboard and mouse. Funny part is you were getting smoked two games in a row. You were doing much better, even though pretty terrible, with the controller.
Just beause you can't aim with a controller does not mean no one else can. Seriously what an asinine thing to say.

Nope! Wasnt me sorry!
I only got my beta invite yesturday.
And i dont have a microphone/headset thing for the PS3.
I was merely referring to the fact:
Alot of the people whom are getting invites are eve players.
Myself, i bought the PS3 purely for Dust. And have no prior experience to using the gamepad.
Most others prefer to play FPS on the PC, with mouse and keyboard, and probably play non-fps games on the PS3 in the meantime.
So, based on those facts, and from what ive seen in my single day of Dusting (including myself before getting the eagle eye setup) are alot of people dancing around eachother, emptying all their ammo out but not killing the other player because they are not used to/cannot use the gamepad, and thus cant aim for crap.
If you were to give these particular players a keyboard and mouse tho... (either by native implimentation or a device such as the eagle eye) their situation with aiming would change drematically.
And i know damn well people can aim just fine with a controller, but it takes alot of time to learn and perfect. Again, refer to eve players being the

I have two Xbox 360 and two PS3 controllers. The 360 controller is light years behind the PS3 ones imo.
The bumper buttons feel and sound cheap, are tiny and have a weird angle to reach. The trigger buttons feel ok but as soon as you push them down fully they submerge into the controller case and the hard plastic edges cut into your index fingers. The asymmetric position of the analog sticks feels arbitrary and unnatural, the d-pad is just crap. It has too much loose room, needs to much pressure to press and sometimes it is wedged and does not recognize inputs. There are guides out there about how to file off parts of the plastic beneath the d-pad to get rid off that. Ever tried to play Street Fighter with it? Almost impossible to do well. The back shape of the controller feels nice and comfortable at first, but after about an hour of holding it it starts to hurt in the hands. The positioning of the d-pad and xyab buttons in relation to the analog sticks is bad and makes me constantly miss buttons. The concave shape of the sticks feels like sliding on the edge of a plate. And last but not least the wireless version looks clunky.
Some of the things I don't like about the 360 controller are a matter of personal taste of course, like the concave vs convex shape of the analog sticks, but things like the d-pad, back shape and the two shoulder trigger buttons are real screw ups.
The only bad thing about the PS3 controller is that there are no official Windows drivers and that you have to overcome two minor resistances when pushing the L3/R3 buttons before it registers. But the XBox 360 controller does the latter too... |

Nothing wrong with the PS3 controller. The symmetric analog sticks is awesome. I actually like the lightness of it versus the 360 controller, which feels like a brick. The d-pad is way better as are the face buttons. |

It's obvious what the solution is here.
Helmet.
The helmet detects what you want to do and does it with an unexplainable negative latency. The helmet reacts before you can think of it. This way, there's no more finger cramps, negative K/D's blamed on "third world ISP's" (since the helmet doesn't use your router, it links directly to CCP's servers), and you get your hands free to strike at your children when they complain that they're "hungry" or "want a turn" |

Being a non PS3 owner I was very interested in this thread to see what your experiences were with the controller and an FPS. I have been a long time PC Gamer so I am very used to using a mouse+keyboard for FPS games.
It is clear to me that everyone has their own preference, there is no clear winner and is entirely down to the gamer.
Can any link to more info about using a mouse+keyboard on the PS3 and comment on any draw backs in they have experienced using it in Dust, if any? |
