Edited by: Angellinne on 15/08/2009 15:06:33 Has anybody else noticed this in Jita? Many of the lowest isk sell orders (on ships anyway) are now in single quantities. You buy the ship at the lowest price and the order is instantly replenished at the same price. The seller in almost every case? A character blatantly named Traderbot. There are a couple of others, but most of the ships I've bought lately have come from Traderbot. Hopefully CCP can sort this out before it completely dominates the market.

Go buy a stack of Cheetahs one at a time and watch the orders magically re-appear as quickly as you can buy them.

never underestimate the amount of time some people spend in game.
I wouldn't rule out it being a bot, but considering the current state of the macro world and the use of an interesting name, it might be someone just trying to frustrate other traders. Many traders hide their true inventory. The name and activity you have claimed thus far don't convince me.
Now, if you said, I bought 10 cheetahs every hour plus or minus 30 minutes for two days and every time a new cheetah was listed within 1 minute by this one character, I'd be much more convinced.

I've seen similar things happen with buy orders. Same person, because the quantity was always the same distinct amount (something recognizable like 531 or so). Bot? I don't know - there are people with no lives who play EVE.

I had this happen yesterday, I had to buy 12 lots of 170 units to get what I wanted. All from the same person, sell order instantly refreshed, not possible to buy more than 170.

While not instantly, I do have a habit of cloaking a few jumps out from the local hub and waiting for my orders to sell out. As soon as they do I go to my assets window and list more items for sale. Thats the great thing about splitting several thousand items into stacks of 100 or so. While I'm waiting for them to sell I can manage my science and production jobs, chat with alliance members, and screw over anyone trying to trade in the same item(s) I do. It's a very enjoyable experience especially when you are logged into EVE for 10+ hours a day.
I'm sure there are a lot of people that think I'm a bot, especially the person that eventually keeps buying my items out to relist at a higher price .

Soz, not talking about ppl with too much time :P
I wanted 2k units of something. So I buy 170 (max I can - lowest sell).
Soon as I do that sell order is up again, and I buy another 170
There were sell orders next to his of 1k, and 150k (if I recall correctly - at any rate they were not 170 units).
So I have to buy something 12 times instead of 3 ...
This sounds like what is posted above, that is, orders instantly re-appearing on the market. I have actually seen this once in my own logs, so assuming it's another "ccp, yep we installed a new feature to **** u over a bit lol haha, buy our plex nice" thing I guess.

Dunno why people insist on denying bots existance and claiming its due to compulsive trade players with odd behaviour. No point in that.
I've seen bots too. I'm pretty sure they are bots. I've reported them too. One was removed by CCP or it was disconnected by its autor. Not sure about that.
Market bots exists and this is fact. So, as soon as you detectd them, report to CCP. This game is about economics, more than pew-pew, so its in their best interest to eliminate all kind of bots. Just help CCP to do the job.

Regards,
I reported this post, pretty sure the discussion is about how to tell if they are or not, not how to report everyone that's better than you at EVE.

No one in this thread has denied bots exist. It's merely been suggested that OP has presented a very flimsy case in support of the assertion that she has interacted with one.

An amusing anecdote. I've heard this same complaint before, and at least in that case it turned out that the person buying the items simply was trying to buy from a sell order that wasn't the lowest. So, every time they bought, they got stock from other orders, and were confounded as to how the order they were buying from "instantly reappeared". Whoops =)

Out of curiosity, what is this mysterious item you are buying?
Just to get a better idea if it is a bot or not.

Dunno, I can't check logs of what was selling in that region, but makes sense to me so I'll go with it

POS Fuel?
Pos Fuel as in Isotopes / Heavy Water / Strontium Clathrates?
or POS Fuel as in the NPC Trade Goods that are also needed?
If it was the Latter, then check the Time left on the Order of 170 you keep Buying. If it's 90 Days or left, you might have a case for a Trade Bot.
If it's 364 Days however, it's an NPC Sell Order set up by CCP and will Automatically replenish, usually going up by a small amount in the process. (Think it has a Hard Ceiling of Base Price + 10% so the order may just reappear at the same price if it's already hit the Ceiling) ---------------

Stacks of 170 are typically some NPC provided products when the original post DT load is exhausted. Every buy they rise in price with a precise scheme but stay fixed at 170 items. - Auditing and consulting

yes they used eve market data to test their supply chain trading strategies. Interesting read.

Your right they did use historical data. What I find interesting is the discussion of the market mechanics and booking of prices, as well how they quantified the trading strategies. Given this research was partially funded by the NSF [NSF Website] I'm wondering when their new gaming division will open

If a player buys all of an order from a non-NPC and then the order is instantly replaced on the market, how can it be anything other than a bot? How is it possible for a human being to place an order fast enough to beat the market screen refresh rate? Or even realize that the order had been completed for that matter? And how it would be possible for a human to do that for 23 hours a day? |

I didn't even think of buying from NPC sell orders, I forgot those even existed. It's true though, NPC buys and sells do still exist and instantly repop.

however if that was the case, the name shouldn't be traderbot, it should be an NPC corp
