Hi guys,
I have been mining for some time now, and I have read a lot of guides and have studied a bit market prices. I use to mine Veldspar, but there is a fact is driving me mad because I can't understand.
I have read that the perfect reprocessing of 333 units of Veldspar gives 1000 Tritanium units. If I see the prices in my region (Lonetrek), buy offers for Veldspar are now at 9.32 ISK/unit (recently I used to sell it al 10.50, and you can get almost 9.50 in sell orders), and trit offers are around 3.02 ISK/unit. This gives me 3103.56 ISK for 333 units of Veldspar and only 3020 ISK for refined Veldspar. Considering refining losses and taxes, how can this may occur?
Am I missing something? Why do miners sell refined mineral instead of simple Veldspar? (in the guides I have read, all profit calculations are based in the minerals you sell, not the ore itself)

Several reasons - they may not notice they're losing isk.
They may not care they just want shot of the stack.
They may not have the best refine skills or standings where they could get a decent return, so selling Ore will be more valuable for THEM per say, rather than someone with the max refine skills and zero waste or mineral tax.
Hope this helps.

Trit prices can swing around more as not all trit comes from refining Veldspar - a lot also comes from melting crap loot.
Also, it may be that unrefined ore is useful for compression and hauling to 0.0... not really sure how much people actually use Rorquals to compress unrefined ore for long distance hauling. (Edit: no idea what the current costs are for compressing ore... I do know that when Rorqual first appeared, this made zero sense due to the fuel costs)

Ahh I think you're talking about module compression of minerals.
Thats when the reprocessing rate of a mineral ends up with more m3 than the module takes up in space. And offers a fair amount of mineral types as well.

There is also the case that some of the sell / buy orders may be fairly old, the trit price has changed quite rapidly recently and has rendered even some of my own orders "obcelete" in terms of the pricing.
