Was distracted while mining, jumped back to comp when I heard the lock-on sound, had a Raven locking me and jamming within seconds. Apparently the pilot sacrificed too much for her MWD setup, because I had her into armor before any of my reinforcements showed up. This was in my *mining* setup!
It's a good hit and run ship, don't get me wrong. The speed at which that ship dodged in and out of my drone range was impressive, but every time she did I spent a minute or two picking off her own drones while continuing to launch cruise missiles.
Good for ganking frigates, cruisers, indies...but don't even try this on another battleship unless you've got friends with you.
[Edit: And as it turns out, that Raven was one of the two that Siddy schooled. Looks like they don't fare much better at 2 on 2. ]
I dont use the Dual mwd setup my self but i know how it works, ive had loads of fights wiht CA's dualmwd ravens. The tacktik they (mostly CA, but we SA use it somtimes) use from what ive seen atleast is that they stay in 15km from a gate for example, and there frigs (taklers) are in jumprange, when enemy warps in the taklers (frigs and rupturs go in, and the dual mwd raven run like mad to a SAFE 50-70km distans. This works well for CA mainly cuz they know that SA ships are for closcombat mainly. But its far from buletproof. If u have longrange fitting then the ravens usly just warp away. Or like som use sensordampeners so u cant lock them that far. Belive it or not, against bs's, dualmwd ravens are longrange ships.

Actually, The ravens dual mwd out to 80-100km. They then engage 1 mwd, while spamming torps on approach, then like 600 torps hit the target at once and they die immediately.

Edited by: JoCool on 13/10/2004 00:09:55 Yeah, dual mwd Ravens are probably the most annoying ships I'd know of. Fighting them is either difficult or easy, always depends on your escorts (eg Interceptors, Fast Cruisers) and the enemy pilot's skill - I like the style though, it's a unique technique mostly used by CA pilots (they're nuts them CAs). Opposed to what the thread starter said, they are hardly kick ass or ³ber in my opinion. They're just good if you know how to use them and risky, as there are some very effective counters.

that sounds like a tactic used in that old game Subspace. :) brings back happy memories. Interesting that the same thing could be done in two vastly different games.

Yeah, Just say I have some awesome Anti-Dual MWD Raven Setups.
Example: Take a Typhoon, mount 4 dual 425mm autocannons and 4 cruiselauncher. Then mount 2 QuadLif, Webber, Scrambler And finish the fitting with 1 Large Armor Repairer and 6 cap power relays. It will give you a recharge from about 160 sec. and your ships goes more then 8000 m/s.
Until now I have catched some Cruisers and Dual MWD Ravens. That setup works quite perfect. With the Drones and closerangeweapons you will shot the Ravens into pcs. in a few seconds.

Obviously the 2 mwd`s should be on while pursuing him and then run just the 1 after you`ve webbed him... (need a named web though because with 2mwd he can still get out of range and you might not accelerate fast enough)
Anyway you barely miss a shot if the raven has both mwd`s running as the sig radious gets huge
That typhoon setup has other problems though since a decent raven pilot that will not panic can still kill the phoon with 1 armor repairer running using torps.

well let see - a dual MWD Ravens signature radius is close to planets... hard to miss -------------------------------------------
