hey CCP: let's quit talking about the same thing in two different ways. Let's just apply the Golden Rule evenly and let the chips fall where they may.
the Golden Rule: It's a big, bad universe, and the biggest, baddest dog eats first.
a Simple Truth: Loot and salvage are the same thing. They both are stuff from wrecks.
So: If more than one person wants the salvage from a wreck, see the Golden Rule. The mechanism for applying the Golden Rule already exists in game. If the person who made the wrecks doesn't like someone salvaging a wreck they just made they (and/or their corp) have 15 minutes to do something about it or STFU.

Salvaging mechanics haven't been changed even after countless threadnaughts, why do you keep trying? |

This is the assumption already.
Reality and assumption collide from time to time:
Assumptions that meet reality: 100 ships vs 10 = people on the larger blob side win even if the 10 are in capital ships
Assumptions not meeting reality: - Nos'ing a WRECK that you don't own will get you CONCORDED?!? - Salvaging a WRECK you don't own doesn't even get you flagged.
Just got to learn the 'exceptions', there are many!

Agreed. Make both loot and salvage free-for-all so you have to compete for both. |

Please could possibly understand this. This subject has been hotly debated since Salvage came around and was introduced as a free for all mechanic. It was never introduced as a way for a player to make more money. People complained about not being able to remove wrecks once they had looted them, CCP responded with a Salvage idea and everyone was happy , there was talk throughout eve of people going to low sec and 0.0 and salvaging the remains of ships left in battle in big pvp wars. This also included npc wrecks which once salavaged yielded good rewards in the form of Rig components. Yes i understand you shot the ship therefore what dropped out of its wreck is yours i just dont see the i own the salvage side of it as it belongs to the npc/player that got shot and not you sir. |

I am not advocating that the person who made a wreck owns it. I merely propose that we look at salvage and loot as the same thing, and that we accept that anyone can salvage said loot. If the person on scene doesn't like it then start shooting or shut up about it. |
