Edited by: Lindsay Logan on 21/08/2009 12:34:50 On a more serious note: Why would thousands of goons pay RL money to play a game they intend to ruin? Why spend thousands of hours in-game to ruin it?
Does that make sense?
Imo, no. They are just having fun like all of us others. They just don't like you since you are not part of them.

[95]
When I first started playing Eve, I thought it would be like any other MMO out there, lots of rules of what you can and can not do. This will get you banned, That will get you banned, etc, etc.
Then down the road, I was getting my butt kicked....I had stuff stolen from me......I joined a corp and watched as another corp member, who had been playing a long time and had been IN that corp for a long time, steal from the corp. Then watched as he joined another corp and stole from them....and then watched as my CEO turned around and LET THIS DUDE BACK IN OUR CORP!!! I can tell you THAT ended up with a lot of grief.....
But here is what I've learned: In EVE, TRUST NO ONE......
Now this makes Eve a very unique game. There ARE things that can get you banned, but lying, stealing, scamming, flamming (oh boy could I go on and on) are not those things. Yes this IS a game, but guess what? You need to treat it like REAL LIFE!
You've started a corp, and just like in real life, you'll have assets invested into that corp. You want to protect them. Would you hire someone in real life that you either don't know well or barely know and give them access to everything in your business? I don't think so. So DO NOT DO THIS in Eve! Duh!!!
"But how do I expand membership in my corp?"
Here's the answer: Do it SMARTLY AND WITH THOUGHT. STOP being impatient. That's another thing this game requires: Patients....LOTS of it. The way your characters train should have clued you in on that right off the bat!
I have small corp myself. The members in it, I trust very much. Why? Because one of them is my wife, another my son, and several others are good friends that I've been playing Eve with for a while now. They have also been to hell and back from Thieves, PVP'ers, etc, etc. They think like me and play the game like me. But for outsiders we'd like to recruit: They DO NOT BELONG to that corp. INstead, I stick them in the Bootcamp Corp. How long have they played Eve? Under 21 days? No way, get out of my face. Come back in another 30 days. They have to stay in the corp for at least 90 days. The Boot Camp corp has NOTHING invested in it. It's just a name and a way for those noob corp members to get together. Each member gets assigned a role so they can't just drop, and have to wait 24 hours..........
As you can see a LOT of what I do is the same thing that many people here have suggested to you in the first place. LEARN from your experience.
Will doing all this keep you from getting screwed again? No. Absolutely not. There is only ONE way to gaurantee that will never happen: You have a 1 man corp. You, Yourself and that's it. If another corp or player is serious enough to want to take you down, they will go through everything listed above and in other people's posts....and then half a year down the road, when you've decided you trust them: rob you blind. Just ask Bob! heh.
So the moral of the story is: NOTHING is guaranteed in this game. NOTHING. And that's what makes it unique. One day down the road you'll be reading about GOON's getting there butts owned by someone pulling the same thing on them. Nobody is safe in this game. Even the Goonies know that!
So have patients, make your thinking paranoid, and if you can't do that......do yourself a favor and stop playing Eve. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Unfortunately there is not obvious solution to your problem mate... unless the dumbswarm is using alts and recycling them afterwards i believe that is not allowed by CCP and petitionable ( can't hurt to try and ask a GM or two ), anyways other than that you just fed the goons enough for them to keep trolling.
Best thing you should do is lay low for a bit and ignore the goons. _____________________________________

Assigning people roles for the sole reason of impeding them from quitting corp is classified as an exploit, flip side of the 'I'm in space so you can't kick me' thing.

We had this happened to us this week as well. They came in in frigates and destroyers, asking if they could join us to mine. We got them in, took them on an op and at the end of the night they went mental. Started shooting at a few of our members. The next day the hunt started. We gave them meaningless roles so they couldn't leave the corp immediately and searched for them. Day one, no succes. Day two, they took out a hulk. Then it was really on. We drove them into one system, couple of us sat on the gates, scanning and probing, others just outside the stations, others flying around from belt to planet to moon etc. to find them. They tried to evade us fro a couple of hours but we got them eventually. Three of them it was, they joined around the same time. When we podded them we kicked them out of the corp and informed all allied and friendly corps that goons had a new tactic. They spammed our channel and corp mail box with their Jihad crap when they where dying one by one, multiple times actually. So yes, you should look into the people you get into your corp. Yes, you may still fail. No, you should NOT let them get away with it, you can fight back. When you pod a couple of them they tend to leave you alone for a while because it is no fun when the carebears start biting!

Just wonderin'!
CCP defines "griefing" as: if you continually go after the same person any multiple ways to ruin their game time.
What Goons do is a one off incident. They do not continually go after one person... they continually go after any person or player in game not a goon. So technically they have not met CCP's standard of "griefing".
Now if CCP were to change their definition we might get rid of these gasbags.

IF they came out to fight you, they'd have you camped 23/7. Then you would be complaining about that. They have far superior everything to you.
Originally by: Colonial Burton
Either they go or EvE gets ruined because noone can peacefully play EvE. I don't pay to play a game where someone just wants to ruin it for me. It plain out rediculous. So I say this to you CCP. GET RID OF GOONSWARM!!! They are a nuisance. They have 0.0 space. Why do they have to ruin the fun for high sec corps?
Goonswarm has been around for years, it hasnt ruined EvE, it just makes people like you who do not learn cry because you will not adapt. In EvE you can do whatever you want, deal with it or find another game because this will never change.
