Originally by: Megel Dufraine I can see it now, battleships with cargo expanders on lows warping in to steal ore and once they get flagged....the fireworks begin.
Nah, noone will fire on a battleship... doing it with an indy first and then changing to a battleship though...
Seems like a great way to gank some high-sec miners.
I cant wait for the whine 'omfg i got pwned in a .9!!!'

This wont change anything, just seperate he alt miners from those of us who do it full time. If anything I will just start stealing ore in a battleship, or just drop loot cans all around a jumpgate or station. Bout time they let us pirate in empire again.

Haha! Looks like doomsday for miners!!! Is this possible? You take from their can, get flagged and then you are free to blast them? Or do they still have to shoot at you first?

It will be easy to steel peoples ore just go out there take the ore by moving it from one can to another (the second belonging to you) then if someone removes any of the ore you can blow the crap out of them as they will get flaged while you wait for a corp mate in an indy to come pick the ore up (gang wouldnt work as both of you would get flaged). You never need to go neer a station and you could do this in a ship that could take most PC characters on anyway.

I would like to know if a thief can defend himself. I would really not think that would make sense. He is the agressor in the first place, seems like an exploit right there. Take ore out of can and blast. Soo I bet there will be a one sided battle all in local vs the ore thief!!!
Anyone see where there is a self defence for a criminal tagged? --------------------------
Garsh ma it soo cool killing people in there space thingies |

well for me it looks like an ore thief WILL be jumped by concord in high space, easy exploit around it: get in your n00bship jettison that 1 trit in there, move the ore into yours, get blow up, let yout ganster move it savely home with an indy, and the miners wont be able to access their own ore, haha, would be a great thing if it was true o_O _____________

I believe that statement:
Stealing from a container gets you criminal flagged, triggering the appropriate response from the authorities.
means that in 0.5-1.0 you WILL get a very fast response from CONCORD. A nice splat over the nearby veld rocks. I might be wrong though...

Better still you could just some low level mod in a can right by a stargate in high sec space. There's always someone drifting in to the gate. Without thinking they pick up the mod and the sentry guns dish the damage. Then you just roll in in your Indy to pick up the cargo . . . unless they jettisoned it just before death!

Edited by: Saavik on 13/10/2004 10:28:55 I dont know if anyone thought about this situation: You warp into a belt in 0.4 (and below) and you find a jettison can in that belt. Noone is in the system so u approach the can to find its full of tech2 stuff and other "elite" equipment. Its logical to assume that someone lost his ship. Now comes the tricky part.....do you take the can and its tech2 stuff and get a security hit, or leave it alone? For most its the the first option, but some people might not like the idea of getting a sec. hit (agent runner or something).
The idea of being chased down in a system by everone during 15 mins. (even if its not the owner of the can) is not a pleasing idea either.......
What if that loot can is next to a stargate......will I be shot by the sentry guns also?
Just some questions here, already had a "situation" like that before and I dont like the idea of getting shot at just because someone lost his ship and left his equipment behind for others to pick......

Hmm .. yeah that rookieship trick would defeat the purpose of the change easily..
I guess it could be countermanded by some ownership of the ore.
The party that mines the ore has ownership of it till a legal trade , escrow or sale is completed. The owner of the ore and the members of his corp , alliance or gang can thus safely remove it from anyones can as it is his property.
Ownership could be represented by a small green triangle in one of the corners, and so is easily spotted and will not stack with ore you do not own.

Edited by: Milton Smythe on 13/10/2004 12:50:32 As an added bonus... removing something you do not own from a can will earn you a criminal flagging as normal just as the poor sod who removed it from the first can. The only exception is if the person who owns the ore in the can is in your Alliance , corp or gang
Problem solved. This way no matter what you do , the character who WILL be moving the stolen goods will receive the appropriate flag as intended
Can ownership good .. Ore ownership better
*edidted to make sense
