Exercise: One of the things that westerners rarely get enough of. There are very many good recommendations on frequency of exercise, different intensities for different experience levels, and different types of exercises available. Not only that, but exercise is as easy as going outside to take a quick run around the block.
And yet, so few people do it.
So I ask, what is your favorite form of exercise that you like to get often?
I can start...
I switch my routines every day. One day I'll do aerobic (run or get on a bike) for 5 to 10 minutes, set to an intermediate pace. I then do a full body weightlifting routine which takes about 45 minutes to an hour, including core. The next day I will either run or bike for 30 minutes (this will probably increase as time goes on, I'm just starting out again since I got out of school). |

Running after a PKM in a machine gun nest you didn't see opens up on you, don't think I've ever moved faster in my life. really gets the blood going, then you get to call in the 60mm mortars. Had 155s available but the enemy was within 300 yards of us so that was a no go.
After that sucks though because then you want nothing more than to get laid but it's 112 degrees and there are no women |

This is why I did not join the military.
Not sure if this counts as an exercise routine, but I'll consider it next time I'm feeling brave |

they're now letting women into more combat roles, Navy EOD now allows women which is weird considering they jump/swim in with SEALs, Green Berets, and Force Recon |

I am not a woman though. Already finished college also, so they would probably stick me somewhere else aside from any special forces groups if I did decide to join. |

Loading AIM-120 Amraams on an F-15 in Saudi. the load adapter on the lift truck broke and down one went. I have never got up (yes, the missile hit my legs on the way down) and ran so fast in my life. Contusions and all. The titanium fins missed my left leg by 6 inches.
But to keep with the OP. Exercise that is a matter of life and death is the kind I like. hehe If EvE WiS is Space Barbie, then I'm built like a Ken Doll:

We have a saying... be polite, be professional, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
The people (for the most part) were really nice but you always expect them to shoot you the second you turn around. Also they have great USDA grade F goat meat
Found all the USMC rules :)
1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough nor using cover correctly.
5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. [Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.]
6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.
7. Ten years from now, no one will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.
9. Accuracy is relative. [Most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.]
10. Use a weapon that works every time. [All skill is in vain when an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket.]
11. Someday someone may kill you with your own weapon, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
12. Always cheat; always win. If you walk away, it was a fair fight. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
13. Always have a plan. 13.1 Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.
14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. The visible target should be in FRONT of your gun.
15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
16. Don't drop your guard.
17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.
18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. [In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them].
19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
21. Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
23. Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

I kinda do whatever I feel like. I've been walking for 3 miles on the weekdays and following up with a 20 minute upper body / core alternating every other day. kind of getting back to the original topic, I bike everywhere. it works great for exercise, and sometimes I'm actually faster than people in cars. I managed to cover about 3km faster than cars because I was able to cut through some places where they would have had to wait at a light or something. I walk sometimes, but because of various broken things in my back, I can't do much more than that without hurting myself more. if you're going to the gym, the orbital machine is a good one for burning fat as it holds your momentum, and since it's designed to use your arms too, you get more of a full boy workout than with the stationary cycles. if you don't have much of a gut, the rowing machine is a pretty good one, but if you do have a gut, you might find your legs running into your gut and you have a really hard time keeping your breathing consistent. |

I am mostly aerobic when I do actually go to a gym. Sometimes we do a little strength building excessive on the treadmill by making the runner carry a dvd player or tv, then we crank his speed up to 9 and then to build coordination he has to occasionally look over his shoulder while running. But really, I walk everywhere and I dance a lot.

I use the bike paths when I can, but on one road, I just stay on the sidewalk and give pedestrians the right of way. I do roll through stop signs, but only where there's no cars there or going towards it, this is just because of how much of a pain it is to get going again on a bike. so far the only generic group of motorists that I hate are old people driving their oversized vehicles like Winnebagos and giant trucks. any time I've been clipped or nearly run into the sidewalk as they cluelessly edge over into the bike lane, it's been some old person. mind you, the one time I was actually hit was an 18-24 teen driving what was probably his parents minivan. |

Yeah, I just joined a gym and I do a lot of aerobic there. It's great for that, aerobic is fairly simple though in terms of the machines you can use and the difficulty with which you can use them.
I recently have been trying to do weightlifting at the gym I joined though, and I realized that a lot of their equipment is either...
A) Not well maintained. B) Not useable for some of the attachments they set by it. or C) Just a piece of junk.
I tried to use their leg curl machine, the pad you put your ankle on couldn't even reach my ass. It's imperative for weightlifting that the rep goes through a full range of motion. I can not do this with that machine, and it's REALLY annoying.
By the way, off topic, if anyone is ever nervous about going to the gym because of the people with too much muscles on their top, or people who are doing 50 pounds more than you in a bicep curl or something like that, after watching them you realize that none of them know what they're doing and they're making the lift MUCH easier than it should be.
P.S. Yes, I got a resculpt. Now working on getting my original skin tone back, still. |

I don't go because I'm embarrassed. My scrawny physique and the staggering amount of solo digit reps I can pump out is just too much for the public to handle.

Walking. Lots of walking.
My work sponsors membership in the Virgin Healthmiles program, which (for the average person) encourages at least 7000 steps taken (recorded by a pedometer that they provide).
Would love to try bikes again, since work is about a mile from where I live right now. But my preference these days is for folding bikes, and I'm not very fond of anything I see currently.
As for exercise routines, I've tried Tiger Shulman's when still in Hoboken, and last year tried Koko for six months. Both worked out well, but the former did not have times amenable for someone working overnight, and the latter was getting squeezed out by the town its in (and its increasingly draconian parking enforcement).
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

I want to bike to work, but unfortunately I have to take a fairly populated highway to work. Plus, I don't trust myself biking down the road for 20 minutes at 6 a.m. I'm fairly certain I'd crash and fall off at some point as tired as I am at that time of morning... |

I agree 100%, I know it gets gamed at work (hell, all parts of the program are usually), and I don't accept challenges unless the HM program itself started it.
But its also low key, low worry, and gives me something to work toward. So it can't be all that bad (and yes, I use the darn thing properly).
I did use some of the money they gave me toward one of the HRMs (got a mid-range one that fits what I normally do). I don't like the chest strap though, so its been languishing in a box someplace despite it being useful toward max points per day.

Next week I'm going to take up running again. I haven't had the time for exercise in the past 18 months. Not that I exercised before, mind you, but when I finally got it in my head that I need to, I couldn't due to life eating most of my day. But now my wife is staying home and I don't have to spend an hour every morning getting kids ready for school, so I actually have free time when I'm not dead-on-my-feet tired at the end of the day (aka gaming time) It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. O.o
Off topic:I thought about getting a motorcycle in order to get back and forth to work today, so I looked into it. I thought "Oh, I can get a brand new bike and all sorts of training and it will still be a lot less than a car, AND get much better gas mileage." I then proceeded to look at the fatal motorcycle crash rates and wimp out.
On topic: Going that fast on a mountain bike is not something I think I would want to try, personally (as far as 95 km/h goes). I do indoor cycling a good bit, it puts me next to women AND it gets me in shape. Win-win. |

at summer camp in the Adirondacks we did some big road downhill one of the kids had a bike computer think he said we hit something like 48mph. as a kid used to go nearly everywhere on a bike. just watched the other week really makes me want to get back on a mountain bike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA6YqjHSMvQ
lately I've been playing a bunch of disc golf. weather has been amazing lately nice to just get out and play. bunch of free courses so it is a pretty cheap habit too (at least around here).
racquetball is also a ton of fun.
also do a bit of TaeKwonDo, cardio, balance, flexibility, and hitting people. |

I live in London so try to walk as much as possible saves money and burns calories, you do need to plan trips in advance if you have a long way to go. EVE Racing event thread:-áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=107164&find=unread

Confirming that I was born with joints that pop in the morning.
I'm not so sure it's a sure sign of arthritis or any other ailments... |

I Like to drive 45 minutes to the rockies out here in colorado, so I can spend the next 8 hours hiking around the old abandoned mines at 13-14,000 feet, not only does it work the **** out of your legs, you're forced to pace yourself, ie: work harder, slower, in order for your body to be able to pull the oxygen it needs.
All in order to scout a spot for the years elk season. |

My favorite exercise is scuba diving. Amazing and kind of trippy stuff, being weightless and able to breathe under water. But my actual daily exercise is commuting to Manhattan. Involves hiking .75 miles each way, through dense vehicle and pedestrian traffic, plus various gaseous emissions. Not sure if this exercise is lengthening my life expectancy or shortening it. |
