I can't seem to find the ship fittings sticky that I have used many times in the past ... perhaps I'm blind.
Anyway, I am beginning to research the Orca and would like to see how experienced pilots have set theirs up.
If the ship settings sticky still exists, please post a link. Elsewise, please cut/paste your setup. Any advice or comments would be very much welcomed too!
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer!

Nice ideia, except:
Originally by: BattleClinic There are no loadouts that match your criteria.

fittings pretty easy really, 2 gang links and a tractor in highs. lows are 2 cargo expanders mids a medium shield booster, couple invuln fields and a survey scanner.
if you take it out of highsec just click the 'self distruct' button or train for a rorq

Actually did find some good Orca loadouts. Only problem is that most use Cargohold Optimization rigs and Expanded Cargohold modules. I have a feeling things don't quite work the same now that the Orca has separate cargo and ore bays. Or, at least, there might be other viable options now.
Still, thanks for the link; it was very helpful !!!

There are many Orca fitting threads, most can be found in the Science and Industry channel. However, in general I think you will be looking as something like this.
Mining Operations Orca ----------------------- Highs (low Mining Foreman skills): 1x Salvager (for rat wrecks) 2x Tractors
Highs (higher Mining Foreman skills): 1x Tractor 1x Mining Laser Range Gang Module 1x Mining Laser Cycle Time Gang Module
Mids: 1x small Shield booster 1x survey scanner 1x afterburner 1x cap recharger
Lows: 2x Cargo expanders (for mining) 2x Inertial Stabilizers (for cargo hauling)

OR, you could do the Drakan290 and fly it 23 jumps through lowsec... Then fly it back out those 23 jumps back to highsec... Without an escort. Then, 3 days later, use a WH to move it to 0.0, and then have your Corp move out of 0.0 and have you jump it unscouted 13 jumps to a NPC station to sell... Only to have them turn around and go ****, we jumped out all the haulers, fly the Orca back! Do it, then fly it ANOTHER 13 jumps BACK to the NPC station and still have it not die, only to realize nobody in their right mind would buy an orca 20 jumps away from empire, so you shout in local to have the local hostile alliance blow it up... Which they so willingly send a Taranis to do so.

LOL! @ last post
The Orca may have an Ore Bay but nothing is stopping you from storing Ore in the Corp Hanger OR the Main Cargohold. (AFAIK)
My Corp has a couple of the dang things and Ive heard no complaints so... ========================= CEO of Shadow Cadre http://www.shadowcadre.com ========================= |

Bah. Our Orca roams all over 0.0, low sec, and w-space. Good scouting techniques + cloak and the Orca makes an amazing mobile fleet support platform. ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

This^^ unless there is a new rig out dedicated to an ore bay nothing is changed.

What are you using it for? Are you trying to provide fleet bonuses on mining ops? Are you acting as a mini-freighter? Are you a Wormhole logistics platform?
Unless you're mining or hauling unrefined ore then ignore the ore bay, the same way as you'd ignore the ship maint if you don't have ships to move. Cargo Expanders and Optimisation rigs are still viable AFAIK, the cargo space wasn't affected by the addition of the new bay according to the patch notes so 100k m3+ is still achievable. --

I set up a Orca for exploration in highsec. Perfect to lazily putter around, doing anomalies while scanning other sites and carry more specialized ships around should they be needed.

Edited by: elorran on 23/08/2009 11:14:34 General travel and utility fit...
High: cloak, tractor beam, salvager Mids: 100mn afterburner, large shield booster, invul field, shield boost amp Lows: nano-fiber structure.
Have cargo expander rigs mounted to the ship. Make a point to carry cargo expanders, mining links and a sensor booster which you swap out for the cloak, nanos and shield boost amp for when supporting a mining operation.
I suggest you keep 2 sets of drones in the bay, 5 mediums and 5 lights, all combat drones. Though you could have 3 sets of lights, 2 for combat and 1 for mining support.
Hopefully that gives you some more ideas for fittings. - - Department of Defence's Peeping Tom |

Thank you all for your input! I have a bunch to think about now, including using the Orca for more than just a mining ops booster with a huge storage capacity.
See you all in space !!! Urm, I take that back, cuz if I see you, a gank is most likely in progress...
Thanks again guys !
