I can fly Gallente T2 frigates aswell as T1 Minmatar Cruisers and BC's, ideally I'd want something small and quick but it's a compromise between size and DPS.
I've considered an Enyo but with a cloak and some tank in the lows I'm barely putting out 200DPS with it. The plan is just to find a quiet 0.0 system with alot of belts, tab in and kill a BS every 15 mins.
What would ye recommend?

Well the Ishtar ("Isktar") is the omniratter. With the ships you list as available... hurricane?

Stealth bomber.
You're limited by damage type...however, with Thermal torps you should do fine against anything save Angels. Even against Angels you'd probably do fine.
You're small and fast enough to be hard to find in 0.0 space, with a covert ops cloak and BS-sized damage.
Hell, if you fit 2-3 TPs and have high level Covert Ops, you can even one-shot most frigate rats (though that's unnecessary for pure sec ratting). Just fit a covops cloak, a MWD, and some BCUs and whatever else you want to fit.

Yep, stealth bombers should be quite awesome if you can fly them. Otherwise I'd recommend trying full gank rupture with shield buffer tank. Just blast the battleship rat quickly and then warp out, your shield will recharge back while you sit cloaked in the safespot, waiting for the sec status timer.

That's the problem, I'm currently a bit from flying stealthbombers and whilst I don't mind training for an SB (I could use the missile skills especially) I just have other priorities.
As for the Rupture I'm afraid that BC spawns would give me trouble, also, you can't squeeze in all that much shield buffer on a Rupture, 20k EHP or so without rigs if you fit an AB. I get a little bit over 400dps with it though which is nice, but really, would it hold up?

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 23/08/2009 00:45:51 gank/shield-buffer/nano Hurricane should do the trick. Fitting a cloak is not a problem either.
It costs about as much as a Ishkur, but would do the job much, much faster. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Stealth bombers are not awesome ratters. They can work but they arent the best choice.
It really matters what kind of rats your killing.
If your hunting Angels the Cane is great.

BS. A good SB will outdamage pretty much anything aside from a BS or a really really ganky BC/HAC, at huge ranges (no need to close in), and with all the mobility and stealth of a frigate with a covops cloak.

Depends on the rat type and stealthbomber type actually, but tbh I'd just look at what damage your SB does and move to the area with the proper rats (avoid missile spammers).
Cov ops cloak and speed is deffo a huge plus if you dont wanna lose them all the time, as well as being convenient for hiding in case you got traffic in system.

Sounds like a good idea tbh, just not sure what to fit instead of a disrupt, hmm, prolly just an Invuln for some more buffer.

There are two schools of ninja-ratting:
1. The more mission-like approach of making your ship simply awesome, ideally cloakable so you'll never get caught and die, so you don't really have to worry about the cost.
2. Cheapfit a ship that can do it, you might get asploded more often, but you're also flying a ship a 10th of the cost.
Personally, I like the reduced stress of the latter. You could prolly be in an effective Vexor pretty quickly, the Vexor does fine in 0.0 ratting with a cheap-ish fit (especially if you properly harden), and while you're going to lose it more, you're out the price of, what, two 0.0 battleship kills? Ohnos.
If you feel really confident about your 0.0 ratting plan, fit up a shiny T2 ship, otherwise you'll probably want to start out in something you can replace with <half an hour's worth of ratting.

Firh, I've been there myself. My main flies Gallente and for nullsec ratting with your current skills and wishes, I'd say stick with the Enyo. Its fast and agile and can kill a BS easily. Make sure you fight either Guristas or Serpentis though.
The Ishkur is nice but relies on drones, and once someone enters local and you want to get to a safespot fast, you dont want to be waiting for you drones to return.
A much better nullsec ratter in terms of agility/dps is a HAC. The Deimos is like a cruiser sized Enyo, but way more powerfull and still fast enough to escape unwanted visitors. If you have good drone skills go with a sentry Ishtar.
Have fun getting rich...

i did this last week with a manticore on guristas, got specops 5 fit a small shield booster, youl need it.. also next time i go ninja ratting il put some tank to.. blew a dread 3.7mil rat in 4volleys. with t2 ammo youl do 5000dmg volleys if you got good skills but youl need 2target painters for full effect.

I use this fit... I like 220s because if I'm not paying attention the pop crappy tacklers
I swap the invuln for a rat specific most of the time, and i prefer to have a mwd (another reason for the 220s) ------------

it's a frigate... BS can't hit frigs for crap. I used to rat in a Harpy in venal, only thing that sucked was the amount of ammo i used and not enough DPS for 3x 1.8mil BS spawns ------------

the question is how do you tank the frigates/cruisers that support the bs's
the bs hitted me for about 16dmg.. the manti got about 300shield, but with 2small extenders you can get it to 1000.
my fit was 3x t2 siege 1 specops cloak
2painters 1mwd 1shield booster
2bcu..
works but when i go back, (sec status allready upp in -3,5 so might be soon) il go with t1 torps, and maybe 1painter, shield extender. and fit 2kinetic rigs. that should be even better.

you can (ok little eft warior warning) sustain 50% cap with mwd running and have no other mods on the ship.
but you should not speed tank the bomber with mwd when killing bs rats, since your signature will make you bleed tears since the... paper thin tank is a dream here... id call it air barrier :P resist and small signature is enough, you aint tanking the whole spawn, just enough to kill the bs and warp off

I just use a Manticore to ninja-rat up in Venal.
3x Dread Gurista's Siege 1x Cov Ops Cloak
1x Gistii b-type AB 1x Gistii b-type sb 1x dread guri kin amp 1x PWNGE
2x CN BCU's
Only thing that gives it any grief are the damn Dire Gurista's, and i just avoid them.

My worst trouble has been tanking the smaller ships.
I've tried ratting Angels in an Enyo and an ishkur, neither have the damage to kill a BS in under 5 minutes, and they have to kill BCs and frig rats first anyway to decrease damage.
Hurricane I really havn't had much time with, I can't shield tank and I really can't afford to train shield skills.
Domi I havn't tried ratting in since I got T2 lights (a week from T2 heavies and I can train T1 sentries right now if I had the skillbook).
I tried the myrm, but again with just Mediums and ACs, the DPS isn't fast enough, and the tank gets close on the triple BS / multi BC spawns.
I can only fly T1 Gallente and Minmatar Frigs, Cruisers, Battlecruisers, Gallente AFs and BSes. And that's it. ________________________________________________

Thanks for the input guys, I've decided to go with a Cane, as an AF probably won't kill fast enough (or at all). I'm a little bit worried though that the shield buffer won't hold up long enough though, a dual armor rep fit cold maybe work better (I'd be dead either way if I run into a camp on the way there) but then again a 160ish tank isn't a whole lot either.
Now I just need to figure out where to go, seems like there are few quiet places left in EVE.

I recently ratted my sec back up and did it in Tenal. It was pretty quiet tbh and if you enter 0.0 via Akkio and up through geminate it's only 20 or so jumps to get there.
Also, +1 vote for the GoGoGadgetCloakingIshtar
