Is there a video of someone using the new scanning system anywhere ?
The screen shot walk throughs I've gone over must be leaving something out.
On the occasional time I actually get a signature to start with, it takes me half an hour to narrow it down. If I'm lucky enough to get the spheres down to the smallest size without losing the signature, I just end up nudging the spheres around and not getting anywhere.
I'm almost 30, I don't have an entire day to dedicate to experimenting with this thing. I just want to pay my $15 a month and have fun. :)

Translation: I am a big lazy glazed ham slumped in a mouldy couch and I cannot be bothered to do my own homework, so I shall not even be bothered to use Google and rely on other people to help me.
Slightly helpful advice: YouTube is (or at least was) filled with scanning tutorials. It was just your last comment which was really galling.

It's quite simple, when you get a 'hit' Dont shrink it immediately. You have to leave a lot of room for the probes +- margin. And just keep practicing, there is no sure fire way to get 100% in one go. Eventually you'll reach a point when you'll get 100% with basic skills in under 15mins.

Train up more astometrics skills. This part of EVE is not supposed to be easy, if your lazy and just want to shell out your dollars and have fun, get in a merlin or rifter or punisher and pvp.

EVE is a game for patient people. There is no instant action button.
To scan stuff down better, train up astrometric skills.
Train up for a covert ops (highest bonus to scanning).
Do you scanning in a frig with a bonus to it at least (probe, etc).
Use named probe launchers/probes.
Get some astrometric rigs for your scanning ship. They come in cheap frigate sizes now.
