It's not much, but it comes down to around $25/year extra for two accounts...damn you banks!
Don't calculate how much extra you pay by doing monthly instead of three or six month subs in addition to the bank charges.

I had something similar to this about a year and a half ago. In my case though it was only .02 USD. Even so, I was paying for EVE on a debit account where I was stretched for every penny. Humorously, that two cent charge nearly caused on overdraft.
I started out by petitioning CCP where they claimed nothing changed on their end with billing and they did not charge me anymore than the listed subscription fee. They confirmed I was billed in USD but would not confirm where that payment was being made to.
I called up my bank to try and find out what was going on then. They vehemently claimed that the charge was made by CCP and would not take the transaction fee off. When I reminded them about the whole "what happens when a charge is made to my account without my approval" thing, they said the only way for me to remove the 2 cent charge was to challenge both the fee and the subscription charge even though the fee had a different entry number. Ultimately, with things happening other than that incident, it boiled down to that bank trying to suck every extra cent they could out of my account and them desperately trying to keep as much of my money in their bank as possible.
Needless to say I'm no longer with them.

CCP charges at most 2% on tax + broker fees for each PLEX sold ingame, and down as low as 0.685% in the best case scenario, vs. 3-10% of subscription costs for people in this thread paying monthly. I had a long Petition with CCP over this and neather CCP or my bank are charging the fee. The end is that its being charged by a 3rd party bettween the networks (one of the middlemen networks) In the US you can swap to AMX but Visa and MC networks are both doing it some place in the extange network as a cheap way to get more money with the passing of the new US bank card laws.
Just to state it better...
CCP is charging you in local currency your card is paying in local currency Someone bettween CCP and your bank is adding the fee because it can.

Well, those Icelandic terrorists are partly to blame for fluffing up the UK economy. Those terrorists did a Paul Daniels with a lot of UK Council money as well as personal monies.
Hah yeah, I am not looking forward to the resultant Council Tax increases... any excuse for the ****ing leeches to squeeze a little bit more out of you Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |

Edited by: Washell Olivaw on 26/08/2009 14:09:54 This is what's happening:
- The government bought the bank, with your money. - The bank is now charging you, in addition to the yearly payments, for basic services that a bank provides like transfering money in order to pay back the government. - Who is going to tax you, your children and your grandchildren to cover the loans. - That are being paid back by the banks, with interest.

What I have been informed of by my bank is that it is a visa charge for myself (within the US) of 1% of the charge for international usage although the fees are not quite 1%, rather confusing and all. But I agree, considering that there are many players also in the states I am surprised that CCP doesn't have the charges to a local (relative) location.

For any U.S. people viewing this thread: pay with a check card linked to a bank account, not with a credit card. Check cards never charge international transaction fees.
I like how another poster can correctly guess which bank the OP uses. America is crazy with it's 8,000 banks.

Unfortunately, not true. I paid with a check card, and got the lovely fee. Probably b/c my bank loves to charge fees on anything I do with my check card. (Pay for groceries with check card: pay the bank $1. Run the exact same card as Visa, pay the bank $0)

Edited by: Qantas on 09/10/2009 21:54:45 I'm afraid that Lloyds TSB do charge for over sea's transactions unless you pay either ú17 or ú25 pm for the platinum or premier accounts respectively. The charge is a ú1 point of sale fee and 2.99% exchange admin fee(that is hidden in the exchange rate).
Edit: This is on a debit card, on a credit you just get the exchange admin fee.

I been in both asia and the states
I still get charged this international transaction fee.
Then again its a credit union which has higher APR rates for my saving accounts vs normal banks.
Good news about my bank is they only charge once between the two accounts, why I dont know. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 21SEP09
