Which do you think causes more PvPers to quit EVE?
Discuss.
Cyno's because hotdropping someone only to be hotdropped back and killed makes people real sad.

Personally I think its the cynos that jump in the falcons. ie. Black ops jump bridges where recons and stealth bombers jump through and stuff.
But srsly i dont think ppl would quit eve over any of these.

Dunno if anyone said it, but neither. Cyno falcons are the most annoying! ---- Sig starts here --- "Anyone caught using this exploit will be punished accordingly, as this can easily be tracked and verified in our logs."
Pity they can't track or verify anything else. |

Postulate #1: PvP with full intel (local chat, ability to spot probes in local), jamming ability and fleet cyno makes for very low risk PvP.
Postulate #2: PvP with no risk is the same as carebearing.

Soooo, let me get this straight:
Your problem is that all PvP should be high risk? Why on earth would a military force engage in high risk warfare? What purpose would it serve to get your @ss handed to you?
Tactical planning is all about limiting risk, maximizing reward, and acting only when it benefits you. You idiots invariably complain when other players use tactical warfare to its fullest, rather than lazily can flipping noobs and gate camping the foolish. How about instead of nattering into a forum, you develop some counter strategies? |

Actually, I'm thinking of trying it myself. All the cool kids are doing it.
A falcon tried to hotdrop a carrier on my Maelstrom once. Unfortunately, he discovered that because I was jammed, I couldn't shoot back at him. Which meant I could just slow boat back to the gate and jump after he faildropped his carrier. Moral of the story is that if you MUST attempt to hotdrop using a falcon at a gate, make sure your victim has aggression BEFORE you ECM and drop that cyno.

Exactly! You get it. This is why insta-cynos are extremely bad for PvP and bad for the game: there is no way to predict whether or not someone has a cyno and a fleet backing them up. You can either go up, tackle them and hope a fleet doesn't drop on your head or you can scan them from a safe distance only to watch them warp off because they did not, in fact, have a cyno.
There's no reasonable method of controlling this risk.
Quote: How about instead of nattering into a forum, you develop some counter strategies?
The only reasonable counter-strategy is to identify which alliances do hot drops and run anytime you see one of them in system. And additionally be suspicious of any unknown neuts, who could be cyno alts.

Doubtful, this is what happens when people are unaware that there is a ship that can jam you worse than a falcon.
