Edited by: Neo Corricon on 23/08/2009 22:33:23 Anyone know the definitive answer to the following scenario:
System XX Sov Level 3 Constellation Sov also
There is only one tower in the system currently from Corp A. Corp A has been in the alliance more than 7 days. Corp B anchors a new tower in this system. Corp B has been in the alliance more than 7 days. Corp A un-anchors their tower 26 hours after Corp B anchors theirs.
What is the effect of this?
I have looked here, but does not address this scenario: http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Sov

Towers in sov 4 constellation belonging to the sov 4 holder only take 1 downtime to take effect on sov(so drop 1 tower wait for dt then unanchor tower a)

My experience is you loose sov. It has nothing to do with how long the corp has been in alliance, but how long the towers have been up.

I'm pretty sure this is right, the tower needs to be claiming that level of Sov for 7 days. The only thing I'd change is "7+ days" to "7+ downtimes".
All Sovereignty, standings, etc. where you are required to maintain something for 7 days are calculated at downtimes as far as I know. So in theory, it could be 7 days on the clock, but you might need to wait until after DT to get the benefit. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? sov has nothing to do with how long a corp is in alliance, it's all about towers. Corp B's tower must stand there for 7 days to be counted in sov calculation. With constellation sov it should be 1 day instead of 7. It doesn't need to have claim checkbox marked these 7 days, and corp B doesn't even need to be in an alliance these 7 days. In your scenario sov stays because of constellation sov bonus _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

If you have constellation sov (3 outposts, over half the systems in the costellation, etc) you get fast claim, which means either two or three downtimes instead of 7 to claim sov, don't remember the exact number of dt though.

The following is based upon NO Constellation sov:
The sovereignty status is based upon the oldest sov claiming tower in the system.
How long the corp has been in the alliance is irrelevant, how long the tower is up is all that matters.
If Corp A unanchors their tower 26 hours after corp B anchors theirs you will lose sov totally. If corp B had their tower up for 7 downtimes before joining the alliance, even if they'd only been in the alliance 1 downtime then they would keep sov. BUT sov would drop to level 1 sov as the oldest tower would only be capable of claiming sov 1.
Corp B needs to have their tower up for 5 WEEKS before Corp A can take theirs down if you want to maintain unbroken sov 3.
Yes. That is annoying, but that's the price you pay for sov 3.
With Constellation Sov, my understanding was that towers claimed sov after 1 downtime, so you would keep sov in your example, but while I'm not 100% sure I think you would still get flipped back to sov 1 unless Corp B had their tower up for 4 weeks + 1 day first.

^^ This is correct. And explains why Delve switched to Kenzoku sov almost immediately after BoB's disbanding, although it all went to sov 1.
Also note that the drop to sov 1 can possibly break sov 4, so watch out for that.
