Open up a tab with each sub forum and setup your spam then go down the line hitting reply. Even captcha won't stop that.

They make new accounts with stolen CC numbers or plex activated bought with ISK stolen from players. You don't really think they actually spend their own money on this do you?

They should just buy a copy of VBulletin. It's much better for stopping spammers and ****.

Or preferably last version of ipb. Global check for spammers. Get in once at one forum get blocked out by the rest. But yeah moderation is poor, the current software is..... from 2003.

Not sure that is gonna happen - CCP seem married to this home grown forum. Like most obviously bad business decision someone has a personal stake in this software. On the plus side with glacial speed there were promised forum changes Soon, about a year or two ago.

Or, by the time the spam attacks started in earnest they had a backlog of messages in the current forum software that stretched back...oh, SIX YEARS last I checked. Might be a bit hard to read those databases, and port 'em to another forum software. How hard depends on the internal message format CCP uses...and whether or not it's still documented. Given the billboard stuff, it's likely not well documented/been lost over time - same reason why the billboard adverts haven't changed in years, literally.

May take a bit longer, depending on how much they have to reverse/re-engineer. Given the trouble CCP has with minor stuff like this, makes me wonder how they've kept EvE itself maintained so long...
OH, waitaminute...

Just a simple Perl script can be setup to autopost onto each topic. And set to login with different username they set at xxx intervals.
There are windows programs that do the same thing for advertising. You give it a list of user/pass and the forum address and it auto posts at set intervals to advertise products.
hell even CNET offers one for download.

Not allowing a user to post every second. Put a timer of 1-2 minutes for example. Won't stop them but might ease moderator work.
