Alright, i'll be able to fly cruisers this evening and since i cant seem to find anything useful with the search function i'd like to hear some opinions about the amarr cruisers. My longterm Goal is flying a Harbinger (are there tech 2 variants of the battlecruisers? i cant seem to find any :/) so skills which will carry over (medium lazers probably, or do you fit large turrets on a bc?) will be appreciated, along with fitting ideas. Arbitrator can probably be ruled out since i dont have any ewar/drone skills and i heard that the auguror sucks, but i'm open to any suggestions.

Augoror indeed sucks.
Arbitrator is the best Amarr cruiser, but as you noticed, it requires a very different skill set from normal Amarr ships. With the Arbitrator, essentially you launch your drones and use speed to stay out of enemy gun range.
The Omen and Maller are both decent cruisers for running missions. Maller has a stronger tank, but Omen does more damage and has more speed. Omen has a small drone bay, too, so it's very much like a small version of the Harbinger (itself a small version of the Armageddon). I would go Omen but if you can't manage your tank well enough to avoid dying, switch to a Maller.
There are T2 versions of the tier 1 battlecruisers (the BCs that require level 1 of the Battlecruisers skill). They are called Command Ships and the Amarr ones are the Absolution and Damnation. They have very strong tanks and are specially designed to boost fleet members.

For missions, especially when on low SP, the Maller is much more forgiving than the Omen. It tanks easier, has more cap, easier fitting and doesn't require drones.

Require?
The Maller doesn't allow you to field drones.

Edited by: Amira Silvermist on 24/08/2009 19:30:25 You can easily run level 3 missions in an Arbitrator. Not sure if thats possible with one of the others... ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Dodgy Past on 24/08/2009 20:04:30 Think I just rushed into a Harbinger before I'd finished with L2s because I found neither the Omen or the Maller particularly great for missions.
Once in the Harbinger I found the game really started to come together though.
Once you have medium lasers and webs trained up then start on the drones, tracking and the tank, those are probably more important skills for Level 3 missions since the Harbie is a pretty high DPS BC with a weakish tank and issues hitting faster frigates.
Later on once you have good drone skills and target disruption you'll come to love the Arbitrator and when you have a bit of spare cash and have sunk a fair amount into gunnery you can discover the Navy Omen.

one of the reasons the maller is more forgiving, the omen needs cruiser size weapons as it gets a bonus for it, the maller does not (really).
Medium armor repairer, 1-2 energized adaptive nanos, cap power relays, cap rechargers and focussed medium pulse lasers.

1 get some rigs (they're cheap now :) 2 use beams for missions :P 3 if you by plates mean those that increase your hp, dont use those for missions either, however if you mean those that yield resist, go for it, they're awesome :)

I tried an omen with, the below fitting (although I think it was before it got a 5th turret slot, as I remember fitting a medium cap booster, although that might have been on the arbitrator fit I used later).
Use the afterburner to control range and pew pew the little ships flying straight at you, if it gets close web it and pew pew it. also you get 3 drones to let loose
the tank is a little unforgiving, but that is why you have the afterburner, get out of the damage zone, at 30km almost nothing in a level 2 mission can hit you.

Hobgoblin I x3 e although in all honesty the arbitrator is probably one of the most fantastic level 2 ships. it is just drones are a bit of a side adventure, although you will want drones by the time you get into a harbinger, so it might make a good middle stop.
