As I said before: Poetic justice.
All the carebears whined the real aspects (winning and losing) of the game in empire space into the grave. So now empire space is nothing more than a place to waste time, in order to get some bits on a hard-disk in CCP's server-park to shift a bit to the left. (also known as increasing your wallet size).
As a cute side-effect of the "if you fire at someone, you are not at war with, you better get blown up by concord or its an automatic ban" rule, you now can't do anything if someone 'steals' your ore. (or salvages it.. depending on sea-or-land-laws.).
I would say that the consequences of your actions, have just back-fired. You are lucky that there is no sound in space, otherwise you would hear my roaring laughter all the way from 0.0 space.

I am what you would call a carebear- for right now. But I take exception to those saying you can't advance if you don't jetcan mine. That's just not true. There are many options. I have a partner who works with me. He hauls while I mine. We make a ton of isk. Even by myself, I can work in .5 with secure cans... I use an Osprey with 2 mining laser 2s, a 150 Dual Railgun and some missles. This config takes care of most Guristas. I live and work in Nonni. It's not a problem.
If you want to jetcan mine in high sec. space, just realize that part of the experience are the 'ore thieves'. There is seldom a free lunch. You might make out big time or you might lose your a$$. Get over it...

I do see the point that uber n00b's should be given a break from it. I've see someone no more than 5 mins old try and go out and make some money and have it stolen from them. These people are to new to know about secure cans or know anyone to help them haul.
Though anyone over say a day old has it coming to them even if I would never do it myself theres plenty of people out there that would.

Many who support ore thieves do so saying it is the risk carebears face and they should just deal with it. EVE is about balance. All actions should have a tradeoff. Right now there is no downside to ore thieving besides making a bad name for an ALT which I doubt causes them to lose sleep at night.
