OK the subject has nothing to do with my post, I just like the song...
Hi C&P!!
I'm after some advice. I'm fast approaching a decision on where to push my training. I open EFT and load up fits for ships I currently use and when I look at the skills they are all 4's and 5's.. So my question is, do I step up to the next ship class (which would be BSs) where im going to suck for a while, or do I get all those 4's (ok, and the odd 3) all to 5's..
Cruisers are FUN ships for me. Small enough that I don't get primaried but they do enough damage that I usually make people which I had been primaried.. I still have a couple of the T2 cruisers I'm not very good in (Logistics 3 does not make for a good Logi pilot) but they tent to be the ones im not that interested in anyway.
When the corp gos out roaming I usually either take an Arazu for probing and pointing (yay!) a phobos for pointing and the lols of whole gangs not being able to kill me (yay!) or a newt domi (booooooo). Now obviously you can tell from that I don't mind being the scout, or bait.. And my drone skills don't completely suck (I'd fly an Ishtar but I just cant fit one!) but domis make me look fat, and they suck, and I hate them.. There I said it...
Having said that... I'm going to have to step up one day so I can have my dream Kronos PvP lol ship..
Oh.. The other option is to cross train.. That would make me Gal/Mini spec.. So a new weapons system.. Some shield tanking skills.. Mmmmm... ACs....

It's all down to personal preference but I would stick to one race and specialise in it. If you want to get into a Kronos then go ahead and train in that direction. As long as your support skills are up to scratch already then there isn't anything really stopping you.
P.S. The song is awesome.

My Gallente corpmates (I'm heavily Minmatar specced) tend to go to Mega for low sec pirating without maxing on BC or cruiser skills. Note we are more into busting gate camps than gate camping and like our armor tanking RR gangs. This means having pilots capable of flying a high damage BS is pretty important.
I dunno how you guys fly but in our gangs the Mega is serious pwnage. An Abaddon or Typhoon can compare but the Typhoon requires 2x plus SP's. For pimpage go to the Navy Mega not the Kronos with its' crappy sensor strength imo.
Obviously the Arazu and HIC are great for camping gates. The Vexor and Thorax do fine for cruisers - my favourite T1 cruisers are the Rupture, Vexor and Arbitrator with the Thorax close by. I'm just finishing Gallente cruiser 5 for the Ishtar and I think it is a truly awesome ship.
For a long term BC our Gallente pilots have tended to crosstrain for the Hurricane. The way we fly Hurricanes seriously outperform all the other BC's but the Harbringer and the Hurricanes' speed and capless weapons are the clincher. I know everyone says capless weapons don't matter but living in neut land they do.

ninja edit, i agree, the song is a good one

I Like minmatar cruiser size ships.
training for a hurricane is good if you got armour skills. gotta love that damn ship my favourate bc in game tbh. minmatar's rubbish tank wise, need to train both some ships need a shield tank. Can usualy get away with armour tank on most of em though.
rifter wolf rupture woot! :P hurricane
If you used to flying blasters, autocannons will be easy for you. jump in scram go! web go! orbit close unleash hell. rinse repeat ^.^
Tough choice though. I went amarr for the bs cos I just like them over the minmatar ones and amarr capitals pwn the best so amarr bs 5 is not to be sniffed at. Depends how much you want to jump up though I guess. good call on cruisers, most fun in game.
tl,dr minmatar for cross train cruisers. amarr for crosstrain bs

Damn it, you got in before me!
But seriously this is honestly keeping me up at nights.. OK, not all night, but a good 30 mins before I go to sleep...
Edit cos I can: I'm honestly surprised my corp hasn't bagged me out on our boards yet.. I've already asked them like 5 times... Megas I like the look of.. I may go for that.. I already have the large blaster and rail spec books some place... Oh, and a clone with lg-slaves...

As for my top favorite troll - I would suggest cross training amarr - you automatically get a ****ing awesome curse. Also, arbis, harbingers, and devoters are not half bad for lowsec pirating. However, decently fitted megas (look for ken plantes fit on BC) are some of the best solo bs's in the game, and making your domi's even more annoying is always fun for extracting tears (yay tears). Plus you get the fringe bonus of training towards a moros (lol gatecamping/stationcamping), a a thanatos (lol undock carrier).
Having said that, I'm more of a max/min type of person, so I personally would just max out the skills that you use frequently now (recon to 5!!, drones, etc) - being able to point from 80k with a faction point is no laughing matter :P =======================================

Training all my armor comp skills to L5 was one of the best things I've done. For frigates and cruisers where fitting is tight, the adaptive nano plates are pretty much free (the non energized resistive plates). It allowed me to go big on guns/rep/nos or whatever and then dump the low resource nano plating (and sometimes specific damage types) in the lows and still have a respectable tank. I'm not a 'train everything to L5' gal, but I was pleased with the results of training the armor comps to 5.

Already got HACs and HICs.. 'BC Skills' is mostly the cruiser ones right? I mean they fit the same guns and use the same mods.. So I have them pretty good. I have BC 3, so not so good.. I was thinking of command ship but I get the Eos which I'm told isn't that great and the Astarte which I have had anything from 'best ship ever' to 'meh'... All for a few months of training (Leadership skills suck)

I'd say stay on the path, get your 3/4s to 5s, oh and start your shield tank skills. That extra buffer before the **** meets the plate is good stuff.
Oh, and train to fit that ishtar while you're at it :p
Now I just have to take my own advice :)

Lana, My main has Gall BS V, Large Hybrid Turrets V, Large Rail Spec IV.
These take a long time. I think I have something like 6.8 mil sp in Gunnery, and my highest DPS with 7 425 Rail II's are around 600, although the volley is something like 2700. Pops frigs in one volley and cruisers in 2-3. This is on a Hyper, not a Mega. You are looking at probably 3+ months to train to those levels, and most of my Gunnery support skills are IV's and V's.
Just checking, I have 6.1 m sp in Gunnery;
Some Relevant skills: Gunnery V Large Hybrid Turret V Motion Prediction V Rapid Firing V Sharpshooter V Surgical Strike IV Controlled Bursts IV Large Rail Spec IV Large Blaster Spec IV Weapon Upgrades IV
Hope this info helps

It was annoying but I never regretted taking BC to 5, it's definately worth it. Not to mention it goes with my (long term) plan of flying and properly fitting every races BC's and Command Ships. WHy not train for every races HAC if you like Cruisers?
