This subject have being post again and again without any satisfactory answer of CCP. 
Stop tell us " can't promise you when " , if you are professionnal you have a calendar so you can tell us the "when" or the "never"...

The other day, I looked at my ship and was all "WTFjaajhdfsajghjfghjhfg". What I mean is; the trails looked good. And with bloomed trails, it would be awesome.
And claiming it ruins performance? Turn the bloody thing off, will you? All the 0.0 blobfare basically turns it into a text game anyways; with all the effects off.
So, for us small gangers and effect-gorgers, GIEF.

Bring back the engine trails...
....as part of an afterburner/mwd effect rather than by default.

I believe I've once heard CCP removed them because if people would lag, the tails would mess up and be all over the place.
Don't know if this was really the case as I didn't play EVE back then, and I'm not sure who said the above anymore either.
