We are trying our bestest to outsmart and catch those abundant cloaky haulers such as viators, hoarders, prowlers and cranes. The scene is low sec. As they jump in from high sec they cloak up and warp out. So far I've tried putting up giant secure containers around the gate to try to decloak at least some of them but they can't be anchored this close to the gate and vanish after downtime. I've tried smartbombing them on their outgoing gate but tank too strong, they slip through. I need to find another solution which would allow me to catch them, suggestions? Is freighter dropping 100s of shuttles legal? Not even sure if its possible. Need some good advice, halp?

The only time I have ever been caught in a cov ops hauler is:
A: My game crashed
B: I was drunk, asleep, wife was yelling at me, etc... lol
A good pilot will not be caught in low sec. There is more of a chance in 0.0 with bubbles.

mwd ceptor for decloak, insta lock HIC for nabbing them... even then you'll only catch the laggy/stupid/unlucky ones. =======================================

yeah, yeah, soo far the feedback is very weak, we know all that. We don't have 30 people in gant in order to spread out to work. Camping with 30 people a single low sec gate is one non-profitable adventure. Let me ask a specific question then. Jetisoning 200 shuttles to cause lag and/or decloak target, is that an exploit?

Chances of it working are still very slim.. basically go do something else more fun unless you really got a hard on for viators.. I usually name mine personal massager..
oh and if I remember right it is considered an exploit.. someone will have to confirm though.

Well I remember dropping cans around a gate was considered an exploit for the same reason.. Leaving wrecks and cans isn't however as you aren't expected to clean them up after you pop them. So... Go get a bunch of shuttles.. Drop them on the gate then pop them all... I still doubt you'll get anything but a sleepy Viator pilot though..
I have found they are most vulnerable when they undock. Cant cloak because the station is too close and they don't align THAT fast...

In Empire - Blockade runners = I WIN Button
1) You have a very low chance of catching one UNLESS they jump through a gate an happen to uncloak ontop of someone (which does happen)
In 0.0 - we catch and kill them all the time.
1) Use Interceptor to run them down ... kit a smarty to uncloak them.
2) Put up a bubble on the gate they are going to warp to ... warp your ship from the gate the targets will be coming from and purposely get yourself caught in the bubble. This will be the impact point of their ship, NOW your ship will automatically uncloak any cloaked ship coming to that point
Thank-You,

As far as I know, yes, that is considered an exploit and will earn the dropper of said shuttles at least a temporary vacation from the game. --Vel

does smartbombing in range actually decloak and prevent recloak of target ship? i think the only possible solution is spread 4-5 bs around the gate and light them up in hope of at least catching some of them

Cluttering the gate with cans or shuttles is, I believe, deemed an exploit. At least that's what the gm said to my gang a couple years ago when someone petitionned us for doing it
Basically there is no easy way to catch the uncatchable cloaky haulers without doing what everyone else has said: Get a large gang spread out 12k around the gate to create a big-ass sphere, release drones, and voila.
Or big-ass bs gang smartbombing at the gate its going to warp to.
Yeah.

Small smartbombs (T2 variety) max out at 3000m range... And they're the ones you will have fit to your interceptor.
So, if you're within smartbomb range, you're probably within decloak range.
So while yes, a smarty won't decloak you. But you will get on the killmail (And then mercilessly popped by the gate sentries if you are doing this in lowsec) --

yeah, it appears we have only two options then
- orbit the gate at 12km with t1 drones out for sentries to enjoy or - have 5+ bs fit 8sb and light them up as they decloak on the way out. From what i've seen it takes about 4500-6000 ehp before the thing pops, makes it rather hard to get soo many smartbombs hit simultaneusly

The only time the whole "shoot them when the undock" doesn't really work is if it's a kickout station with a very small docking radius. Most competent pilots will also make instaundocks in every low-sec system that they haul through...well, at least I hope they do.

So far in this thread we have had the following options presented.
1) Use an exploit and hope they don't petition 2) Hope they are slow or asleep 3) Blind luck 4) Use a massive gang to stop them cloaking up after jumping 5) Give up and ask Lana for filatio instead.
I actually prefer options 2 and 3...

Or moar likely they are afraid thier own npc corp cloaky haulers will get shot down on the way in from Jita with the supplies if it gets spread around.

to catch the warp in through the gate your best bet is a few (4 should do the trick) interceptors mwding around the gate at 12km. You obviously won't catch everyone, but you'll definitely increase your chances.

yes yes this is great. Help get people to understand what's really in a name. That's why they called them blockade runners.
Now, repeat after me, people:
A Strategic Cruiser is still just a cruiser. Yes. Crrrrrrrruuuuuuuissssserrrrrr. So when you pop one with a BS or even a tanking cane, you still popped a CRUISER.
