What you all think, Will this be the tool that kills the power blocks that now hold 0.0?
Or will this make them Stronger better and keep there foot holds and lock down 0.0?
Atm there are only a few Power blocks You aether join them or you will never see 0.0 life.
You can Not attack some weaker Alliances or corps due to Naps and collisions and blobs.
every one wants to care-bear and be friends with every one and keep there space..
Is it time for a big shake up in the power blocks to knock things loss to get 0.0 back to its intent small corps / Alliances fighting to serve and hold there space and take space then Big Blobs that just kill the game so care-bears can join and just suck up 0.0 isk
Maybe Dust will do just this .. or will it just bring in loads of wow/halo 12 year old's as some have said on these forms over and over...
i have no idea what this will do to the game i am just throwing this out here....
Q: Do you all Like the power blocks?
Q: Would you like to see more Fighting with the big powers ov eve?
Q: Should all the collisions Die and start fighting one another..
Q: do Naps kill The game ?
And most of all Do you like the idea of Dust and all the info that is out atm ?

reading coad today, riddling through the trolls that appear here on a daily basis and the non important cases like corpmembers unable to leave for another 24 hours drama.... something makes me think/feel/believe/hope (fill in correctly to your own likings) that we might not have to wait for DUST 514 to come around and mess with the big powerblocks currently established in 0.0 sov space. Maybe im dreaming, but it seems some coalitions are not as stable as they were 9 months ago after the big metagame lets boot bob from inside trick was pulled out of the hat. Sounds to me like its about time for something to happen (like usually after summer recess) and throw all the cards out in the open, stirring them up and confusing the conservatives. Maybe it is time for something new to step up, some forgotten to return or some out of the box thinking. At least from my side of the fence it seems like that. As for DUST 514, my main question would be weither it will be well enough balanced with the current memberbase in eve in terms of individual output towards the political, economical, influence system we are used to. The general idea of an online game taking place within an online game sounds great and progressive. My fear is though that the strongest will get stronger and the weak get weaker (eventually making the MMO PC game EVE very unattractive to new players) with the launch of DUST 514 as the main axis between the connection of both games seems to be based on money (ISK) and so the best FPS DUST 514 players will very quick find their ways to the richest EVE powerblocks. Thats my 10 cents on this one.

Hey guys when DUST comes out we will totally be able to overcome our own incompetence and failure to forge a choesive alliance in Eve Online by hiring DUST mercs to take and hold space for us

Nice thread. Too bad you wont get any discussion - just trolls and flame etc.
however Q: Do you all Like the power blocks? No, the current state of the game is boring. As you point out "You can Not attack some weaker Alliances or corps due to Naps and collisions and blobs."
Q: Would you like to see more Fighting with the big powers ov eve? ofc
Q: Should all the collisions Die and start fighting one another.. yes! keep dreaming
Q: do Naps kill The game ? Yes The only "real" fighting atm is around scalding pass.

No, ego is stringer than Dust
Or will this make them Stronger better and keep there foot holds and lock down 0.0?
None, NAP trains arent string they just think they are
Atm there are only a few Power blocks You aether join them or you will never see 0.0 life.
Lies, while it is true NC / PL / Goons / KIA all hold hands and talk about pokemon inspace vista edition they arent 'most' of 0.0.
You can Not attack some weaker Alliances or corps due to Naps and collisions and blobs.
Hehe this is what Napping Online is all about
every one wants to care-bear and be friends with every one and keep there space..
This only applies to NC especially TCF
Is it time for a big shake up in the power blocks to knock things loss to get 0.0 back to its intent small corps / Alliances fighting to serve and hold there space and take space then Big Blobs that just kill the game so care-bears can join and just suck up 0.0 isk
They will be, happens every year this time and Goons are ALWAYS the first target, just check verite for the past few years about this time, Goons will die and shortly so will their boyfriends
Maybe Dust will do just this .. or will it just bring in loads of wow/halo 12 year old's as some have said on these forms over and over...
The kids will join Goons and spam fofofo, nothing 'block' couldnt handle
i have no idea what this will do to the game i am just throwing this out here....
Q: Do you all Like the power blocks?
Nap trains make my spleen itch
Q: Would you like to see more Fighting with the big powers ov eve?
But that would involve having someone red
Q: Should all the collisions Die and start fighting one another..
Why they would all just join one big corp and do the same thing again
Q: do Naps kill The game ?
Naps cant kill anything in game never mind the game itself, look at NC for example what have they achived?
And most of all Do you like the idea of Dust and all the info that is out atm ?
Dont hate it, dont like it

Edited by: Interconnector on 26/08/2009 15:32:49 Edited by: Interconnector on 26/08/2009 15:29:40 Lets not forget that these big corporations have dozens of people dedicated to the logistics and upkeep or the space that hey hold. There is a hell of a lot more to owning space than just sieging towers and soon to be planets. Small nobody corps and alliances won't have any easier time getting into 0.0 and even if taking space is DRAMATICALLY easier don't forget that it's easier for everyone not just pubbie 0.0 corps. It'll be just as easy for the more experienced corps with a better logistics backbone to just take the space back. Like it or not experience in these things really does play a huge part in the success of an alliance taking space and holding it/defending it.
The power-blocks will always be here regardless of who makes them up. Also fighting amongst them doesn't really do all that much since most of them/us don't want new space to deal with because of the logistical nightmare it requires to upkeep them.
Also I've said before but I'll say it in here, I hope CCP realizes that Eve will probably be around for much longer than most people will be interested in an FPS. If they make sieging planets a required part of taking space then it'll probably just end up being other EVE players on the ground. Also the phrase " ok guys we've taken all the moon towers, if our guys do well in Dust 514 tonight we should be able to dock by morning" doesn't really sit well with me, but don't get me wrong I think the implementation of the 2 games is pretty epic and I hope they can do it well enough so that the impact of each game is significant enough to make it fun but insignificant enough as to not discourage people from either game.
I for one really want to Kamikaze bomb my ibis onto FPS players and will not rest till I can. (btw I use the phrase sieging planets just a term for conquering them I realize you don't siege in an fps)
I also wanted to add that I genuinely hope that this does encourage 0.0 alliances to try to get into 0.0 and work at taking/keeping space. They just have to be persistent and understand that it'll take a lot of work and setbacks. I am always a little baffled at the amount of people who play only in empire.

Hey guys, people are being social in a social game and making friends. This is making it difficult for my 20 man alliance to attack larger powers. This is obviously broken and needs to be fixed, please take away the ability to make friends. Making friends has destroyed the game.
Do you guys really think DUST is going to change the social nature of a social game? If you can't put your mouth breathing super nerd syndrome aside long enough to make some friends, then you don't deserve to step foot in 0.0. Sorry to break this too you, DUST isn't going to suddenly make it so that you can spend all the money you mined in empire to dislodge established powers that have allies.

The current "peace" in 0.0 at the moment is a sort of misnomer. 1 80% (made up number but I believe its fairly accurate) of the alliances just finished off the war and purge Bobzoku & Friends from Delve, Q, and Period Basis. This involved a lot of boring POS work. Wearing people out. A lot of people are taking this final month of summer as a break as well as the start of college/highschool for many players as well. Its the summer lull. It always happens. Things will start to pick up again towards the end of September as everyone gets settled once again and is bored of classes/looking to procrastinate on homework.
As for Dust, I personally dislike the notion of this player controlled game being influenced by forces not related directly the the Tranquility server. I suppose technically this would still be controlled by Tranq. players by proxy, the potential however to have crappy Halo children deciding such a high fate of the game such as Sov bothers me immensely.
If it was implemented into factional warfare first as a proof of concept I might change my mind. But with current information being so few the only thing we can do is sit back and make half assed predictions -------------------------------------------------- This world is kill or be killed never forget it. |

i'm really opposed to the fact that Dust will have magic. sure, they'll call it Psi, but i think it's way too similar to magic. the class system is really out of balance: it's really skewed towards classes that can self-heal, like the Techmarine.
then there's the transport issue. since we'll need to build drop stations over planets, it might as well be POSes. and why requires sleeper minerals for those? way too much pressure on wormholes that don't have enough cpu power for fleet battles
this also really presses out the smaller alliances. i mean, anyone can afford 4 billion to rent a good team for a week, but someone with moon resources can afford to hire them over and over and over until the other guys run out of money and fold. it really doesn't change anything.
also, letting motherships do bombardment is a huge role change for the ship. it's too sudden and game breaking.
now, i don't actually know any of this is true, i'm just guessing so please keep that in mind. let's discuss this since we're all very important and know what we're talking about even though we have no idea what the hell we're talking about, we just watched a stupid 2 minute camera vid of a trailer

Had a friend that's a goon came roaming with me and a few other friends, he literally missed out on about 80% of the fights just because they were blue, and I really doubt he knew any of them enough to be a "friend"

have to say. very nice post. and i have to agree 100%. tho i doubt dust514 players will be _needed_ to gain sov. just to have something additional. prolly boost on gaining sov. lvls up / getting sov.lvls down.

If DUST has a significant effect on 0.0 sov then the big alliances will get their own DUSTies and continue to win. Big well-organised groups will always beat the smaller rabble unless CCP makes the outcomes essentially random.

Edited by: qwijJibow on 28/08/2009 00:38:40 Edited by: qwijJibow on 28/08/2009 00:37:06 the following is my personal views on how this should work, which is based on nothing then mear speculation but...
I think it should work like this...
Atm sov works like this: you have the most moons you get the system..
when dust comes out is should (i think) work like this: once you have the most moons around a planet then you get to invade using any ship that can use a clone vat bay these would work as the mobile station used to invade from)
Basically you use Cosmos to contract a dust team to invade and they jump clone to the ship and use that as a base of operations... if the ship is destroyed in game (eve) then the dusters cant get re-inforcements and then loose the fight for the planet. (unless a new ship arrives that can setup a clone vat bay) Each planet is broken into atleast 20 areas that need to be conqured.. lets make it 21 that way there will always be a majority sov holder of the planet.
Once you have the majority of planets then you get to make a modular pos (battlestation) around set planet. this battlestation will serve as the key to holding sov over the system. (only one battlestation per system)
So basically most of the sov will be based in Eve... Only the controll of the planet will be based in Dust and that is totally dependant on how well the Eve-online alliance is able to keep thier moms' in orbit to resupply the dusters...
oh and the best thing about the battlestation is that it has a clone vat bay so the defending alliance always is able to call in re-inforcemtns... that way its a bit harder to take over a system :)

I hereby confirm that DUST absolutely doesn't care about the power blocks. We dont kill Power Blocks nor strenghten them.
Quote: Maybe Dust will do just this .. or will it just bring in loads of wow/halo 12 year old's as some have said on these forms over and over...
DUST is recruiting pilots with an age of 18 or above and we arent going to recruit a load of WoW players, i heard the goonies do.

In short.
Yes Yes No No
Why looky here, its a Goon agreeing with an AAA dude.
Controlling any 0.0 space is hard without a lot of people. We've made friends. I'm sorry you can't.

From the good fights ~ perspective, well, you know what I'm going to say
Huh. So, you you're saying you have two options right now: find friends and hold space, or have few friends and get ~good fights~. Please see PL and SoT as references for your stupidity. Also, once again: 0.0 logistics requires substantial effort requiring lots of people. If CCP changes this, they essentially make it easier to hold space, so current power blocs expand to fill what they haven't yet taken.
Oh, and I'm sorry that you're a friendless misanthrope and I at least know people who know others.

1. Big alliances hold dysp/prom. 2. Dysp/prom gives iskies. 3. Iskies buys dusties. 4. Dusties take space. 5. Space has dysp/prom. 6. Big get bigger 7. GOTO 1.
Or no, that sov gets influenced by a fps won't matter unless other things change.

A power block is a piece of wood with a battery glued to it.
Going back to the subject, a lot will depend on how much involvement is required from the pilots. If you need naval superiority then the blocs will still rule EVE, there will just be another annoying layer of mechanics to sieve through.
I think it is just a move to make capital fleet warfare more about shooting each others ships than shooting D2 specials, which is an incredible experience. Incredibly boring.
I've seen a lot of good ideas on how to encourage more people into nullsec, not sure Dust is one of them, you never know, they might make it work and it might be interesting. But, I think it will be a flop, I just hope it is not a NGE kind of flop.

Good morning Sgmorris,
if we remeber, then we wil see that you and I were in the same Alliance, which was called Pupule 'Ohana, at that time Sgmorris was in RADEC.
Q: Do you all like the power blocks?
Power Blocks are massive forces that can hold space for a long time. Smaller Alliances cannot hold space for longer than 1 month. It follows that Power Blocks are needed for holding sovereignty.
Q: Would you like to see more Fighting with the big powers ov eve?
If Power Block "1" and Power Block "2" fights against each other , then all pilots both in 1 and in 2 are able to using their Carrier's , Mothership's , Dreadnought's. In such 650 pilots engagement , it is truly worth fighting with a Capital or Supercapital ship. Q: Should all the collisions Die and start fighting one another..
Q: Do Naps kill the game ? NAP's are always short term agreements , not long term agreements. Many NAP's do not last long enough.

this is not the view of my corp or alliance
There will always be a few hardcore that join the "losing" side for a challenge.
Most will join the "good" side because it's easy.
EVE is a bit more complicated then most games as there are many sides. But the new players in DUST will flock to the stronger sides (aka powerblocks).
If game mechancics change then the pwoerblocks sov space may diminish however their power/numbers will not.
