Hi everyone. I am a relative newbie. having played about 2 months, and sporadically at that. I am really liking flying my Coercer, and still am doing Lvl 1 missions. Can anyone suggest the best fit out for a Coercer taking into account that I am relative newbie. I am mostly running missions / salvaging at the moment. Thanks in advance.

For a low skill character, I'd propose something like this:
[Coercer, Mish] Small Armor Repairer II Fourier Transform I Tracking Program 'Skadi' Coolant System I 'Skadi' Coolant System I
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S Dual Anode Light Particle Stream I, Standard S
Keep your distance, as the tank is weak and will only last a minute. Upgrade the mods as the skills/wallet allows.

With 8 million in the bank, it might be better to skill up to a cruiser. i dont know what your skills are but especially if you play once in a while, train up the skills and hop in a cruiser and start grinding lvl 2's

If you wish to move up to a cruise, and stay amarr and still do Lvl1s to grind Faction standing, I suggest using the Arbitrator.
Though I bet no one in their right mind would suggest the Omen (even though I love that ship) for running missions. The Drones make the missions just go by so fast. ________________________________________________

Why do you have autocannons Minmatar guns on an Amarr ship? Yes I know they don't use cap, and with low skills that is a concern for you. I would suggest getting rid of the autocannons and either putting lasers in those slots if you can. If you can't maybe take a look at some hybrid guns if you have to keep your cap usage lower. But if at all possible you'll best be served using lasers.
Keep in mind that destroyers are weak ships even at the best of times. There's a reason why they aren't very popular. If you are really dead set on moving up in ship classes then switch to a cruiser.
If you are intent on beeing a serious combat pilot especially pvp you might want to consider staying with frigates until you really max out your skills with them, which is going to take several months. By the time you are done though you will be one crack shot pilot sho really knows how to fly. Also with all of the fitting skills you'll be able to change to any class ship that you want and fly it well with hardly more than a month, two months for a battleship. Even all the T2 ships will be within easy reach.
Frigates while they may look small and weak can be some of the most adventuresome ships to fly. The skills are all quick to train, and once you're got some practice, and your skills somewhat higher those T2 frigates will be a lot of fun. T2 frigates can if piloted right take out cruisers and are almost untouchable by BS pilots.
If your goal is to sit like a log in space and pop every rat that comes by then a Battleship is what you want to work towards.
Frankly I've been a BS pilot for a long time, and I've decided to switch back to cruisers for something a little more interesting that a slow giant hunk of metal. Recruitment Thread EKT Website |

Dual Light Beam Laser II with Aurora S... incredible range, tracking and damage. Will slaughter most frigates. Just fit one Heat Sink II and one Tracking Enhancer II. Rest is optional.

Thanks for all the advice. I did buy a cruiser, but decided to just save up and go right to a battlecruiser. I like flying my Coercer now because it still has descent maneuverability, and can hold enough to make it worthwhile for salvaging, but still can handle most things in my high-sec area without a problem.
To answer some questions...the autocannons are strictly to preserve cap space. I will switch over to hybrid guns if that makes sense. Are there any modules that boost capacitor space? I will check out the Dual Light Beam Laser II with Aurora and see if that is a better fit. My main goal right now is to make isk so I can buy a battlecruiser. Any suggestions on which one?
Again, thanks for all the help.

For lvl 1 missions on a destroyer, Medium beams are overkill. You want to maximise your resistances to make repairing less of a task for your repper.
My suggestion: Train up destroyer to lvl 4 for good tracking and cap efficiency
8* dual light beams to give you an effective range of 25 km's with microwave crystals and no skills. 1 small Ab for mobility 1 small repper, 1 energised adaptive nano plate (2 if skills allow). 1 adaptive nano plate. Biggest armor plate you can fit. Pulse the repper and ab as needed. With a destroyer, you have enough tracking and firepower to kill any lvl 1 mission enemy.
If you feel mroe confident, replace the energised plates by heatsinks, but for missions that is not a necessity. For cruiser foes, switch to multifrequency crystals and stay below their guns. Enjoy.

Without wanting to start a whole new thread (and apologies for hijacking the OP's thread ) does anybody have a good "suprise!" expect-the-unexpected PVP for this delightful ship?

Lord Azori:
For the Coercer, use only Lasers. The ship gets bonuses for them, it works best if you have 8 of the same lasers fitted.
Also, do yourself a favor, don't skip Cruisers and jump straight into a Battlecruiser. I know it's tempting, but the Battlecruiser is so much more expensive, and you're going to end up losing it. Fly a few cruisers first, it'll save you a lot of grief and ISK.
For whoever else asked about a PVP fit, I've found this one to be kind of fun:
[Coercer, rodensteiner's Coercer] Damage Control II Small Armor Repairer II Heat Sink II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters
Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S Dual Light Pulse Laser II,Amarr Navy Multifrequency S
[empty rig slot]
Bring Scorch with you as well, of course. Works quite well for killing frigates. A lot of T1 frigates can be popped before they realize they're getting shot, align, and warp. And if they're dumb enough to willingly engage you, even better! Feel free to engage Interceptors and some Assault frigates, too. Not sure what I'd use were I to rig it.

Edited by: Dorah Hawkwing on 28/08/2009 20:34:22 I recently played around with our new toys and squeezed 370 dps at 16 km's from a coercer with overheating. Requires max fitting skills though.
T2 mods and amarr navy crystals.
I leave the puzzle up to the following posters and leave the solution to ym next lossmail.

ALWAYS stick with the weapons that the ship gives bonuses for.
Don't mix racial weaponry... its a bad idea.
That is reserved for the insane and the highly skilled.
