Whilst going through the Lord of the Rings trilogy once again I was reminded just how much I love the city of Minas Tirith as a fictional place, the one place I would wish to see as a reality.
For those of you who don't know, Minas Tirith is a huge white stone fortress city built into a cliff, made of several levels. Picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Roturn_King-Minas_Tirith.jpg
It's the location of one of the main battles in the story.
I began to wonder what other favourite fictional cities from books or films you've always wanted to see in reality.
Pictures would be good. |

So you would like to see a zombie infested city or a refuge from an apocalyptic pandemic in real life?
I was expecting awesome architecture, please explain. |

A world in which people need an extra gun or help with emergency medicine would be my forte. I have a rifle and some knowledge (and a great deal of interest in) emergency medicine... and the supplies to use both. Which makes me extremely valuable, which is in stark contrast with being a nothing and nobody irl.
Raccoon City because it's one big arcade game, and Boulder Free Zone because it'd be interesting to be present for a new chapter in human history. |

Mine has to be the little town from Operation: Desert Storm II, honestly, my favorite city/town of all time, I used to rerun that mission hundreds of times, the tight corners and ambushes GÖÑ |

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately came to think of this sci-fi novel written by Greg Bear, called "Eon". Very good book and if you're into sci-fi (duh) I strongly recommend reading it.. Features & Ideas Discussion: Agent Finder, Black Holes Needs a banner here.. |

The Citadel is pretty badass. My favorite playable one from ME so far is Ilium. Can't wait to play on the Asari and Turian homeworlds (Thessia and Palaven) |

I'm expecting the Asari homeworld to be somewhat like Athens and the Turian world to be something like Sparta.

Oops didn't even noticed that one.
Although I like Star Wars I really hope they won't make another one. Remember what they did with episode 3? ~ When everything fades away, an echo is the only sound that will remain ~ -á-á~ Chaos is a name for any order that produces confusion in our minds ~ |

You're welcome. What do you mean, what did they do to episode 3 that wasn't good?

Not really a "city" per se, but Noveria from Mass Effect. Cold air, blizzards, snow, ice, isolation if you're staffing one of the more remote installations.

The idea of a city planet is much older and was already in Isaac Asimovs Foundation books with the planet Trantor. |
