400 plate/125mm/small neut/ set up will eat most rifters alive. The only chance the Rifter has is running because the neut will kill the cap on even a cap boosted rifter. There simply isn't enough buffer in the cap on a rifter to keep your repper running much less your point and AB, if you are getting neuted.
The only chance the Rifter has against this set up, is a fall off rig and barrage to stay out side the neut range. Even then you don't have a lot of screw up room.
btw.. I notice everyone always wants to point out the holes in set ups that a ship will lose too, yet every ship in EVE has a ship it will lose to.
Rifter can also fit 400mm plate, with 150s (or 200s if you want a AB fit). It also gets to pack a web for controlling range more easily then the Punisher, etc.
I'd probably be more scared of a neutron blaster punisher, tbh.

AB setup works decently against a cruiser unless that cruiser has a nuet. Then you die horribly.
Overall you probably shouldn't AB anyhting bigger than a frigate because you lose your ability to get from point A to point B in any reasonable ammount of time. The main purpose of a mwd is to do this thing.
In a fleet an ab frigate is of questionable value. You're going to tackle very slowly if the target doesn't start out on top of you. There are bigger ships out there doing dps, and representing firmer tackle. Your job is to get the initial point/web/scram as soon as possible and then wait for the fleet to deal with the target.
If you're solo you should try to fit dps rigs and go to a rolled tungsten plate.
If you're in a fleet you should make an mwd fit, and then go for armor rigs. And go to a rolled tungsten plate.

Yes but to fit the 400 plate on a rifter you have to give up a low for a power grid upgrade. Personally I think using power/cpu upgrades is a waste of a slot and TBH I think the cap boosted 200 plate rifter is much better.
With the 400 plate Rifter I think the Punisher is still gonna out tank it due to having more low slots for tank and you give up the Rifters biggest asset, which is speed.

But it's also basically correct.
This.
Additionally, the majority of people don't fit or fly their ships "correctly". There is a counter to every ship/fitting/strategy, but you can't play the game assuming your opponent will execute the counter every time.

One of the best things you can do with a rifter is a put a web on it. t2 guns also make a huge difference, and don't put cccs on pvp ships (sub cap). Pew Pew Lazorz!!! |
