It's been noted countless times by countless people how certain faction items are hardly ever used because they are very expensive in the LP store, and how certain 'unique' items from lowsec and 0.0 LP stores are hardly worth it either.
Easy solution:
Make it so that every few days, the price of items in the LP store is adjusted according to how often an item is purchased. Very popular items should become progressively more expensive, and less popular items progressively cheaper. This should be done separately for each factions LP store, and if done right it will easily balance out the lowsec and 0.0 mission rewards.
More variation in faction mods, more variety in rewards, and a certain competitive aspect added to the LP store - what's not to like?

I see the cost of Charters shooting up quite quickly making high-sec POSs unviable.

A roof and bottom price should be implemented obviously, but keep in mind that they would at the same time become cheaper in less-used LP stores like those most often found in lowsec and 0.0

If you make it separate for every corporation's LP store and not faction wide, less used corporations will get more traffic due to lower prices. People will leave the mission hubs and spread farther apart in more different corporations to maximize on their LP value.
I like this demand based balancing. Items that are currently not worth the ISK may drop far enough (after a while) to become feasible for use.
The whole area of LP stores, their interface functionality, price balancing, module stats, diversity of available modules and which corporation has which LP rewards available is a big topic that can use some developer time. Personally I'd love to see at least a few items in every LP store that are unique to the corporation and not found anywhere else. -------- Ideas for: Mining

/signed with this and the op
Would help fix Lp stores like minmatar which atm has implants as one of the best Lp store items. It would also mean things like Republic Fleet Shield and Gallente Armour stuff is actually worth buying now.

There's actually no real need for a roof or bottom price... The market will regulate itself...

Well maybe not a fixed min/max price but more something along the lines of stacking penalty where it will go up or down a lot at first then slowly halt but never completely stop as it approaches a high or low value.
if you catch my drift

it wouldn't be impossible
but it would def make it a bit more expensive until people realized they can go do a few missions for some random corp and get enough LP
or just stock up before the patch (if it were to happen)

This is the single best idea that has ever been posted on this forum.
Just so long as the Apocalypse Navy Issue in the Imperial Shipment LP store is not effected by the massive use of the Apoc Navy Issue in the Amarr Fleet one.
Spread out missioners, raise costs for macro ****s, great idea.

They read it. I'm even sure that between all employees, every thread gets read. But any idea in this stage is 6, 12 or 18 months away in the dev cycle and dev approval for an idea makes the community go nuts and expect it in the next patch. So they take notes and it gets worked into their own ideas for the system.

Unfortunately, this really won't help anything. The biggest demand for many expensive faction mods comes from mission runners, who will gladly pay any absurd price you can name for their ships and modules, because they know there is minimal risk of ever losing it. On the other hand, anyone who has any hope of ever using faction modules in PvP will just be screwed, as the price quickly climbs to a level where nobody can afford to lose them.
It's just like the situation with CN invulnerability fields right now. Compared to faction EANMs, they are incredibly expensive, because mission runners will gladly pay 300 million for them. The result is the EANMs are a good PvP option, but the invulns are only available to a very few rich elite PvPers. Your system would just put EVERY module into this category. ==========
Merin is currently enjoying a 14 day vacation from the forums. Until she returns, you've got me to entertain you!

If implemented hastily, then yes.
However if they first checked the volumes for certain faction items and worked out what a good balancing point for price would be, then no. And it would be easy to make a formula that can be modified depending on total volume and or LP gathered and spent.
As long as the lesser-used faction LP stores would become cheaper to the same degree that the more often used ones would become more expensive, little would change except that the missionrunning crowd needs to think twice where they do theirs, and thus force a population spread.

No, it's because they require 179 vs 57 insignias. And those 179 insignia's are of a rarer kind.
Added to that is the popularity, but since mission runners don't have to replace it on a regular basis, it doesn't actually matter that much.

I would like to add that the whole concept of requiring 371238912093182313 insignias to buy anythign form the store issimply STUPID!
HUGE numbers that become LARGER on smaller items, completely unreasonable values that on some situatiosn would take 300 missions against enemy navy to collect.

A year ago, I proposed Insignia Conversion into generic faction insignia type items for streamlining the LP store. It could now be done with a single agent for all insignias using the epic arc agent code, offering one mission choice for each individual insignia. Drop one at every data center and corporate headquarters. Then you only have this faction specific insignia in all LP store offers instead of a lot of different ones. -------- Ideas for: Mining

same thing was pointed out on the test~ and market discussion forums before it went TQ.... similar with t2 production before invention hit...
the value of LP may be determined by supply+demand, but the items themselves are bound to CCP's will.
remember that whenever CCP boasts about their player-driven market -.-
however, this will never change - it's all they know: ingredient pools such as moon minerals, salvage, cosmos parts, drug clouds, sleeper stuff etc will be added with every new group of items and form their own little economies. ... ofc, to keep them under control, and thus never, NEVER allow the full forces of the market to indicate any imbalance...
and obviously to falsely claim "no inflation" over and over again - putting the gist back into logistics |

NPC market orders and office fees are already influenced by supply and demand. Would be rather logical to implement a dynamic variable (e.g. ISK cost) to LP store offers.
