Does anyone have one of those Nvidia 3D / high refresh monitor combos?
How well does Eve work with it?
I'm thinking about buying this, and if Eve works, all the better.
Cheers.

I have no idea how EvE works with them, or if at all, but a friend of mine has the new Nvidia card.. but finding a 128hz refresh monitor has proven to be a task for him - which is what's required to perform the "true 3d" aspect. I haven't really looked into it myself, 'cause I'm a cheap bastard and I stick with ATI and AMD.

Same... But mine has been modified to play most of the game on the higher settings (minus shadows, for better PvP performance) ______________________________________

It will probably work fine but you need a screen that can output at least 120Hz at native res.
You have 2 options, shell out loads of money for the new dual 60Hz LCD screens by samsung and another company that were brought out in conjunction with the nVidia glasses.
Or
Buy a cheap CRT (glass) screen that can go up to 200Hz by default and they can dispaly full HD 1920x1080 resolutions as well. Also CRT screens give better colour contrast, contrast ratios (near infinite. Though they are heavy and big. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

I was pondeing one of these, which does the 120Hz required for flicker free 3D (60Hz for each eye I guess)

I have an aging 19" CRT, so if the wallet allows I think I'll go mad and get that and the glasses. I was wondering about how good Eve looks, because about 75% of my PC gaming time is sitting in front of Eve!

Novelty wears off quick. Bought 3D glasses years ago, played through mechwarrior, did a bit of EVE. They have been in the closet ever since. Especially in EVE it's a bit of pretty station spinning, then you take them off because it's a pain to refocus between your UI and the game environment. The technique only works comfortably in FPS style games with minimal UI.

Thanks for your comments Washell and for the link Cryten.
Hadn't really thought about the UI being on a different plane to everything else and needing to refocus. Hmmm, I might just go for a decent monitor then.
Ta all.

It looks good with the UI hidden but as soon as you bring up the ui its Eyestrain-o-vision time with headakes incoming in ~30 seconds.
