Vexor with 4 small neutron blasters and a small smartbomb. 10mn MWD, medium cap recharger with 400s, and tracking enhancer. Medium armor repairer, kinetic/thermal hardeners, and one more low slot item im not sure of yet...

Well, I know the Vexor can do L3's from range (rails and iron ammo).
I've not personally tried close range, and frankly I'm having issues useing a Thorax as a close range blaster. Go ahead and try it. Worst that can happen is you'll have to buy a new ship.

No good. I was doing lvl 2 missions fine, without even hardeners (cause i wont have hull upgrades 4 until tomorrow). Got a mordus mission and the last wave was a 100k squad leader with explosive missles. Wasnt expecting that one.
Only the second cruiser ive lost.

If you only have Gallente skills, the Celestis is much better for missions. Will handle all level 3s at range. If you like close up then Thorax is the ticket for Gallente.

No offense but if you put a civilian shield booster on your ship, it will even be more of a challenge...
Whatever appened to "Train guns before ships" and proper fitting? To say nothing of support skills for why else would you need a M cap recharger on a Vexor? |

JP jeez man give er' a break.
I would do 4 small named neutrons, 1 smart bomb
1 web, 2 cap chargers ( not boosteres )
1 medium named armor repairer, 2 hardners ( that your NPCs do damage of ) and 1 cap relay
lots and lots of drones... keep a mix of small and mediums. -----

No, I don't think I will. Because with her loadout (and yours as well) and the skills she apparently possesses (or not), she wouldn't last one Thief mission and a Guardian Initiate will wtfpwn her in under 20 seconds.
So to answer the question: No. |

Yeah, you're going to get owned. You *might* want to try the setup out on one of the test servers first, before you lose your actual ship.
The problem is that Agent mission ships thrive at close range, where you are going to be sitting at in this setup/ship.

lose the smartbomb if you are ever going to launch your drones. This is an up close and personal setup so I would recommend a webber instead of the tracking enhancer, especially since small blasters already track like nobody's business. The webber will really help if you are using heavy drones and help you keep from using the mwd too much.
If you want up close and personal then you would be better off with the thorax I think. You can still carry 8 heavy drones at once with it too. Overall though if you have low skills I would suggest trying a long range approach for L3 kill missions. Especially Mordus, Thief and others mentioned...

My advice for an armor tanking ship vs level 3 Mordus is as follows.. first rule is to kill the headhunter first as this is the only one that warp scrambles, I've only ever seen 1 of these on each mission and its always on the first wave. He dies quick and once thats done you can warp away as many times as you need for a breather (always choose the closest planet / station to warp to so you waste minimum cap).
Ok now for setup, dont use tech1 armor repairers they are a waste of cap, with tech2 ones you get more armor repair for your cap spent, yes they are more expensive and yes they do need more skills to operate but they are very worth it if you mostly use armor tank setups. I usually use 2 small ones along with 1 thermal hardener and 1 kinetic hardener, you should be able to tank mordus ok with this setup unless your cap skills are quite low.
even with good cap skills it don't hurt to fit cap rechargers and a medium nos or 2 (nos will replace your guns but who cares, once you have heavy drones skill high just let the drones do the work (you might want to enquire which drones are best to use vs mordus, i always just use thermal ones vs everything since i hunt serpentis alot), remember with drones you dont have to worry about all that optimal range and falloff sillyness, just sit there and tank and let the drones whiz about).
I would not use blasters vs this mission because most of the mordus cruisers fight from outside your optimal, bobcats like to be 15km from you and pumas like 20km+ i think and the moa ones dont like to be close either. for you to even hit with your blasters you need to waste alot of cap with your mwd to get close to them, they way i fight them I never fire the mwd (until the end to pickup loot) and no real need for a stasis web either.
Problems lie where you have to get the drones out on first wave, kill the headhunter and then get the drones back in and warp out for a rest / recharge, you dont want to leave the drones behind when you warp as they get ganked while you're gone. Ah and if you have 1 npc left to kill on current wave dont kill it if you have low cap, warp out and rechage then come back and kill it or you will get lots of angry npc on you with your low cap :)
lastly try to face your 'escape planet' and fly towards it maybe, that way you are aligned for warp and you are at 'warp takeoff' speed, you shouldn't lose anymore ships this way. I hope this helps. I have to confess that i've mostly dont this mission in my dominix but i dont see why a Vexor cant handle it, Vexor has same armor resists and I'm sure it can run 2 small t2 armor repairers and 2 armor hardeners non stop without running out of cap (especially if you fit the 2 cap rechargers and 2 medium nos as mentioned above)
I hope this helps, have fun, level 3 mordus is the best mission available at the moment imo, lets see what shive brings :)
