You're probably not familiar with how a market works. Suppose there is only one vexor in eve - Even though that vexor used 4mil worth of minerals to produce it, it is unique and rare, so a the demand for the ship is great, which makes a price drive. The price on this vexor goes up until the buyers reach a tipping point where it becomes the maximum they are willing to pay. sorta like how most people don't buy t3 because the prices are more expensive then a pirate faction battleship.
But t1 production only requires simple minerals, and there is a lot of that everywhere, and so demand is decreased to the point where you can nearly always buy it for near mineral prices. T3 and T2 havn't reached this point because there aren't enough people producing - this creates a bottleneck and drives up prices as producers struggle to keep up with demand or simple hold back their stock to keep selling at high prices.
Enter you - you buy, ignorant of the difference between material prices and market value and lose approximately 4.9billion.
Welcome to the free market.

I don't normally like to be elitist, but the OP needs to take a break from Eve, aquire some sort of intellect enhancing gene therapy, and then rejoin the game after he has passed the appropriate lower threshold of required intelligence.

I know they're out of order, but it doesn't really matter. Also, dude, just quit while you still can. Maybe not the game for you.
I think its funny how he *****es so much that it takes too long to train skills. What skills has he trained so far? Looks like he set an EVEMon plan to fly tech 3 and thats it. Dude, train some RL skills before you return to the game.
Wow. Just wow.

I am beginning to suspect that these posts from Sidblackside, and similar one like it, come from the alts of the "waah carebears are killing eve, force them all into low-sec" crowd. You know the ones, they post threads with titles like "Why carebears are wrong" and "Level 4 mission runners are killing the economy".
I suspect they use their alts to create these whiny "change eve to work more like WoW" threads just so they have something they can point at and go: "See.. SEE... we told you the carebears wanted to ruin EVE"

Two things:
(1) your ship does not cost 5 billion ISK to replace. If you paid that much, you're an idiot.
(2) did you perhaps *read* the screen when you were buying insurance? The part where it states exactly how much will be paid out if you lose the ship? It's rather explicit how much ISK you will receive. Try reading instead of button-mashing next time, you might have better success.
Don't forget, you also lost some subsystem skillpoints when you lost that ship. Or did you miss that part? Please whine about that loss as well.

What the hell is this crap?
This makes me wonder what is the point of going tech 3 if we get screwed like this. Now i wonder who is screwing who worse. players screwing players, or CCP screwing players. what is the point of paying to play a game if the game administration is going to screw us players over.... if you know please tell me.
Just be glad there is insurance. I personally think Insurance should be removed from the game completely. Then ship loss will actually matter more.
