if losing it is so bad, why put it in there in the first place?

Edited by: Lecherito on 28/08/2009 00:12:26 I was content to call myself one of those who escaped the scam. Sadly, I have recently discovered that I had forgotten to withdraw more than 90,000 ISK. I've written it off as a loss, but I would be extremely delighted if Ebank ever decidied to give customers their ISK, even if it's only a small percentage? =/

o.oo isk
why..oh why would anyone with even a small percentage of a brain, put their lifeblood in game in some virtual fictitious entity. And your only recourse is...what...cry on the forum.
Ms Linne made 11B in 3 yrs.....and then was dumb enough to put it in some virtual bank cause they had a pretty website. I can't believe you had the brains to make that much and then just gave it away!
No wonder Jita scammers won't go away.

Well, to be fair, when I first joined I was absolutely sold on Ebank. It got talked about all the time as the *safest* place to store ISK. Then you had every Cosmo and Kazzac wannabe voicing their support for it and spending their token 2-3 months there, since it was the place to be. To a new player, such an institution went along with the magic that was the illusion of the secondary market. While I can't imagine a three year old character depositing everything they own, the fact that nearly every IPO/business model/etc etc is a scam in the works is not something one learns until he/she learns it the hard way.

See this I never understand.. Why, do you need a "safe" place to store your isk other than your in game wallet?

Edited by: cosmoray on 28/08/2009 04:15:59 Actually lost 1M ISK to EBANK, and zero to DBANK (never trusted DBANK). Not because I didn't trust EBANK (I did before), but because my cost of capital was always higher than the interest they paid.
I was lucky because I was setting up a business account for a new IPO I had in mind with BOD and everything (no bank) and was going to use EBANK to add to the security. The project has been put on the back burner while I figure things out though.

For the same reason people choose to undock I suspect. Because risking Monopoly money is fun.

Yeah, I withdrew almost all of my ISK (all but a couple hundred thousand or so) before Ricdic, and the rest after when I saw the "screw the customers" approach they were taking.

About 28m.
I've already said they can keep it, I think I may also have offered to round it up to an even number for them.
I lost faith in EBANK the moment Shar left. I was content with an opaque institution holding a small portion of my assets (5 billion was the most I had in there over the years) provided there was a reliable whistleblower to look after my interests.
I have several friends/associates that are current or ex-EBANK employees, none of which do I hold any hard feelings against. Even Ricdic isn't on my blacklist for EBANK, but that's probably because he was already blacklisted for dereliction of duty in the ZZZ alliance.

For the interest. It was a way of letting your passive isk gain you a little bit of wealth. I thought of opening an account there for a while but even though I suck at trading I'm making more that way than I would have at e-bank.

Why do you need to pay CCP for their blatant "I sell you a virtual interweb ships world that does not exist" "scam", when your RL money is safer in your RL wallets?

I never had faith in anything nor anyone I can't thoroughly investigate. EBANK looked solid though, it had "the faces" but it was just too creepy to see them say "we are a private institution so GTFO with your questions".

About 200 million in each. In DBANK's case, it was the interest earned on a 10% 4 month CD that I never took out and EBANK's was an opening deposit some months ago, when I wanted to check them out, which I promptly forgot about. Haven't missed it for the last 9 months so I guess I won't now either.
More interesting would be anybody running side bets on if and which bank bank will repay their depositors first. I suspect I might be receiving my pension before either of them.....

3 million, plus whatever interest it may have earned. I deposited it a few months ago when they said they were closing the bank to new customers once their deposits had reached some arbitrary number. Thinking I might concievably want an account at some point, I made a token deposit.
The new account freeze only lasted a few days or so, so I suspect it was all just a publicity thing to encourage new customers anyway.

Only silly people rely on other to make them money without proper supervision and safeguards. So, like in RL life, I keep my ISK, just like cash under strictest of supervision, and if I can not, then it does not go there.
So, I am glad I never "invested" into that pile of rubble that is ebank. Never fully trusted Ricdic, and I was always more inclined to agree with Shar on how things were being ran there.
I am just gonna keep me ISK, and chomp on some popcorn while watching the drama unfold.
