first of all, its a shame eve has no status bar in cargo and other containers or hangars which tells me the total number of items/selected items at all.
From times to times you need a number of things to know, which methods do you apply for counting them??
My one is to resize the window to a certain number of items and then paging through counting pages + the rest.
What do you do in such cases??

You have a DB running? So? You have access to the eve db?

assets window does not show things in POS and cargo and is delayed by some minutes. So, not a very viable and ineffective way to count items.

If I want to count unstacked items, like BPCs, I move them into a empty cargo hold of one of my ships. Number of items in the cargo hold or other containers is shown.

what??
Ok as I see the only method to get the number of items without counting them manually is to move them into cargo or another container. Sad.
CCP, please implement some kind of a status bar or something where the number of selected items is shown, and ffs improve the damned science and industry window so you can do useful work with stuff listed there!!

You can also search now and it'll display xx/yy that match the search field. Works for hangers, holds, containers.
