So I've been building a POS in Gallente Space and I noticed the Small Tower says: 100km from Moon.
What exactly does that mean? If I warp to a moon i'm on 5k km. Apparantly I CAN'T anchor a POS 100km from a moon. but i can 5k km from moon. so i thought it my be a good idea to anchor it 5k away from moon... but on THE OTHER SIDE. But than again I can't anchor it there...
Can I anchor the (small) Tower only 100km from WARP IN point ?! That would be stupid as hell since the POS is to obvious...
Did I miss something? is that different with other Towers, High / Low Sec?!

Edited by: zombeee on 28/08/2009 20:32:44 Warp to the moon at 0, anchor POS there. The POS will move to a predetermined location somewhere on the grid.
You can't change the place a POS is anchored; it's to avoid exploits like having an "invisible" logistics repairing the POS from outside the grid.
Also, yes, a POS is supposed to be obvious, since there can only be one per moon.

Not possible to anchor it somewhere else? I mean in low sec its pretty easy to shoot down POS's if they are so easy to find...
EDIT: It IS? .. that's dumb. very dumb, but oh well not the only thing in eve ;)
thx anyway

You are not allowed to "hide" a POS. You have no choice where it is anchored. When you click anchor it moves to approximately 100km from the warp in spot and anchors. If you anchor a POS at a moon, whenever someone warps to the moon they will see your POS. No getting around that. Period. ----------------------------------------------------

The alternative would be to make POSes scannable, which would make them only slightly less easy to find.

I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish... what's illogical about having a fixed spot for a POS? Why shouldn't it be that way?

POSes are scannable.

The Problem is not that the POS is fixed, but rather that you can't choose WHERE to fix it.

The POS will be placed in the middle of the grid. You can not avoid it.

Why do you want to put it somewhere else?
Remember that the rules basically are:
- only one POS per moon - tower can be scanned / probed for (which means they'll be able to warp to it regardless of where it is) - you can have guns in your POS that auto-shoot anyone who shows up on grid (also, warp jammers, webifiers, energy neutralizers, etc).

Only in low or null sec. High sec is a bit different (as we all should know).

Used to be able to set where to anchor them. I was quite dissapointed when it was changed though, I'd set up a nice little tower on a moon that people were using as a station spitout but had to re-anchor it several times before the thing was actually in range of the warp-in

I have a large bubble on the 0m warping with a large pulse battering web and scram all within range of the bubble itself, its caught itself a few BS already :P

i remember that time... and iam still scared to warp sometimes to a pos at 100km because... it might be an "old" pos still anchored "there" and i could land right inmiddle of it and .. die *shudders*
