I came up with the idea of having a version of this game that is watered down. Get rid of the visuals basically. Just have the menus, tabs, items , overview, ETC. Have it so it doesn't use a lot of hard disk so I could be possibly put on a hand held device like an Iphone . It would be good because the customer could play EVE even if he isn't on a computer. Though it would take some man hours to change the game so like charge 15$ the customer or something like that. It would probably only be used for like trading on the go in the market or updating the training skills. If the player could he/she could do mining/pvp/missioning . Though I don't think it would really great as it would probably be slow and hard to do.
Tell me what you think please. :3

Edited by: D0INK on 29/08/2009 04:02:25 The concept has ran by my mind a few times, but it just doesn't seem do-able; at least not on really small hand-held devices. The skill queue feels like it was something intended for a delayed skill change option (or at least gives a person a 24 hour buffer to get online for a skill change). I wouldn't hold my breath for something as ambitious as this.

if the Eve api was more versatile, it would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately it is really only for stuff like evemon, eve fit tool, and killboards.
If the api opened up to industry/research jobs, I'd make an app for that. It would be more of a hobby/school project to make a mobile version of evemon.

I don't know where you are going with this guys. I meant that it would be the exact version of the game just no visuals except for the menus and etc. Maybe get rid of unnecessary pictures or anything else to slow. Make it the basic points and mechanics of the game. Also I didn't mean to have some random guy make it and have to use the API code. Have CCP make the watered down version of it .

I know you meant that. But it's silly to try and make a design intended for an 17" screen and bigger to fit on the display of a smartphone. And it would not be some guy, it would be one or more students working closely with CCP to develop the apps.
As for a light game client, that's not going to happen. They dropped the one they had because it was too expensive and time consuming to maintain different versions of the same client.
