These are little things that I consider "quality of life" tweaks. EVE lends its self to spending alot of time in game. I love that there is a built in jukebox/mp3 player (something more games need) and being a game that requires quite a bit of research the browser is pretty solid. Having said that they could still use a little tweaking/improvement. None of these are game breaking so I dont expect them to get a high priority but little things are what make games great instead of just good.
So in order:
1. Mission Music: I wont lie the first time I jumped into a complex my first day in EVE that heavier techno kicked in and it was awesome. Having recently returned to missioning I still enjoy it. The first 30 times. Now its just repetative and annoying. I tend to listen to my own music and it will stop my play list to play the "mission music". Adding new tracks would help some but only for about a day.
Fix: Add a check for player created playlist in play to disable "mission music" or a setting to disable it all together
2. Jukebox general: Ive seen the idea floating around for "radio stations" which I really like. In a game sold as a sandbox that is shaped by players being able to listen to player generated radio stations would be rather cool. I know there are platforms for it already so Id think it would be moderately easy to partner with someone (shoutcast?) to integrate it into the game. Would be nice to be able to play formats other than mp3 as well (I know there are licensing issues and all)
3. Browser: A general overhaul would be nice. It works decently but overall feels clunky. Im not a software person so I dont know the difficulty level but getting Flash so I could watch videos would be nice as well :P
TL:DR: Option to disable mission music. Radio stations and other formats for jukebox. Update browser to play videos. |

I found this and was totally not surprised when there weren't any comments or replies on this, I guess I'll just resign myself to NEVER listen to the jukebox.
Although, I guess, "artistically" having the mission music start every time you hit a warp gate was cool for a minute, it no longer is. PLEASE get rid of it, it is the single most annoying thing in the game.
I have submitted petitions and have recently found this forum, although after reading though any other jukebox related posts I realize that Long Trang and I must be the only 2 people out of 100,000 that this bothers, so carry on?
TL;DR: Please for the love of all that is sane, remove the auto mission music feature!!!!! |

TBH, I'm not sure how many people actually use the in-game sound. I know I personally just use my computer's media player for listening to music (when I'm not on VoIP). The same goes for podcasts and such.
And I doubt they'll be putting Flash Player in the browser any time soon, there must be a reason they didn't include it to begin with (I'm guessing because it tends to have a ton of security flaws). |

This is way too complicated. I don't think it needs replacing etc. I just think someone needs to go into the current jukebox program and FIX IT.
Take out the damn cue that says when you hit a jump gate, ruin this guys experience with 1990's my little pony space music.
If I had access I'd do it myself and it would probably be a whole 15 minutes out of my life that would be well worth it, this isn't an issue that isn't getting attention because it's hard, this is just one of those gets lost in the miasma of listening to too many people talk.
The way I like to work is look at something and if it's broken, fix it. |
