i don't have any experience with scorpion fitted with ecm burst modules, so would ask if it worth using and the deployment if it's the case. Specially thinking on countering drones, as the still hurt, iven if the "mothership" is jammed.

Don't fit one.
Scorpion is a long range jamming ship, if hostiles are in range for you to use it, you will be dying very shortly. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

They aren't very useful at all.
Just file them alongside other worthless PvP modules, such as WCS, Shield/Cap Flux Coils and what not *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

ECM Burst Modules are useful against Drones and tacklers (if orbiting close below gun optimal)

T2 ECM burst on scorp plus Caldari BS lvl 5 gives 18 km max range plus falloff is 12. What's large smartbombs?

The fact that you don't seem to like them, does not make them useless. WCS work very very well, so do cap flux coils. Just depends on the situation. Please don't make this some personal vendetta against fitting. I agree with burst fitting though, that they are quite useless.

I've heard this before about using ECM burst on drones, but drones just relock instantly don't they? -- Terminal Impact is recruiting PVPers for fun ops in NPC 0.0 space. Visit our website or join ingame channel "the tict pub". |

a small handful of scorps with ECM burst can be evil vs RR BS gangs, Get a warpin on top of the BS gang, Align out, hit burst and hope you get out in time, If its T1 fit (apart from burst) and insured it costs very little, but you could disrupt RR for long enough for a BS to go down.

If one wants to disrupt the enemy RR as you say, warp one of these in at under 15 km and shoot away!

Last-ditch effort when running a gatecamp is about the only use I know of for it.
EDIT: The ecm burst-style smart bomb looks very interesting, however. __________________________________________________________ Please resize your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

Would be much more useful if the ECM bursts didn't draw aggro from stations and gates.

I've had that same idea, but using about 5 of them staggering the burst.
Having a scorpion ECM burst every 8 or so seconds in a RR gang, however big the gang is, is gonna f*** them up good.
Since there's no need for anything else on the ship other then the burst/MWD/tank you could do something like
[Scorpion, New Setup 1] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
ECM Burst II Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II 100MN MicroWarpdrive I
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Cheap, and if done right, their RR goes out the window --------------------------------------------

If you go ECM Burst and Smart Bombs (most stupid name ever for a completely indiscriminatory aoe attack, btw) then why not fit an armor tank then Sensor boosts and ECM in the mids?

If you were talking about my fit I just posted, I used a double tank because you're unlikely going to want them to do anything else, and you'll need them to survive for as long as possible
The scorps, much like the BS's you've dropped them on, will barely be able to target anything, so very little point in weapons/neuts, or targeted ECM. As well as you'll want to avoid smartbombing, as that'll drain your cap more, and damage the other scorps. --------------------------------------------

Yeah staggering scorpions if you can chain it properly (not very hard with practice) can ruin someone's RR gang if you get in range.
Single bait burst: Land into a bubble, MWD directly into them or perhaps in lowsec, use a cloaker for a warp in point (just to make sure you get RIGHT on top of them) and begin baiting.
As it's gonna take a couple seconds for them to get a full lock on you, doing it early wastes the burst. You get one every 30 seconds. Which means if you're hero tanked bait waiting for a fleet to arrive, wait 5-10 seconds. If they have drones out, your burst will aggro the drones anyway, despite jamming them.
ECM burst breaks thier LOCK. It does NOT keep them from retargetting for 20 seconds like a normal jammer does. However, it'll cause plenty of mass confusion for a good 5-10 seconds AFTER the burst starts, so best case scenario you bought 10-15 seconds of more time for your fleet to land.
The whole point of said bait is to buy yourself more time. Boom they aggress. Boom local spikes heavily. Boom if they start to run, you have multiple points on some of thier ships. If they don't...you burst and buy yourself additional time.
If you die, you die. This is very risky and has a high chance of failure. Also your cloaker needs to GTFO once a solid warp-in is set, as you'll burst him...can somone clarify if burst will decloak?
Imagine the possibilities of busting camp runners if you can decloak recons with the burst while your inties bump and relock in 1 second anyway :D
Need confirmation though.
And if anyone in militia wants to try this, careful. You lose faction standing for every billboard, gate, sentry gun, and drone that isn't crimflagged or -5 or a wartarget, and you WILL go crimflag on it.
I tried some antics with this a coupla times as bait and I took some sick faction hits for it. Was totally worth it though, as it worked 3 times in a row :D

Actually, a handful of scorps fit for standard non-burst ECM does the same thing much much better, with the added benefit of not dying instantly and your fleet being down one ship.
Problem here is by the time you are aligned and ready to fire your ecm burst you are already dead when landing in the middle of a hostile BS blob, if you fire it as soon as you land they have you tackled by the time you are aligned out.
Edit: ECM burst obviously doesnt decloak, would be silly as smartbombs dont decloak either.

About the only reason to fit a burst is defensive.
If you have multiple points on you, those points are prob within burst range..align burst & warp away.
Bursts have a much higher jam strength but take 30 sec to cycle & ya can only have one active at a time...meaning you can only really make use of one.
Also they dont jam as reg ecm's do,just make those affected loose lock.
Usefull if you happen to be jammed yourself tho. Having fit one they have saved my rear a couple times when I was surrounded jammed & pointed..

The idea with using the ECM Burst, is that it doesn't matter how many RRBS's there are. 5/6/7 scorpions properly staggered will decimate the RR capabilities and their damage, doesn't matter if they're 15 BS to 100 BS. --------------------------------------------
