this game is great. i can only suggest everyone with a fetish for spaceship games to try it out.
right now i am in the middle of the terraner plot doing some missions on the side to get my agoner rep high enough to enter the military sector.
mainly this consists of kill missions and already i got myself killed twice on them with the sabre through rockets trying one of this patrol missions.
these rockets truly are evil especially if u are on a laptop and are missing the button to target them directly in order to shoot them down quickly. any fix for that?
in anway it is big fun and one is rally immersed in the space. truly a nice change from eve online. refreshing scene.
now i was wondering are the others who play it and especially how was your beginning in x3tc since this is the hardest part.
any tips? for instance how do you start successfull trading?
cheers.

for trading, you can set up a sector or universe trader and later build an own station.
against rockets, you can order turrets to fire them down, if you fly a big ship (sorry your sabry is by far too small :P)
if you are open to mods, you can use Commercial Agent (Script for trading) and Mosquito Missile Defense for your rocket problem (basically fires a small missile against a missile)

Yeah check the x3 forums and you will find some awesome mods for it. i have x3 and got some great ships and mods added to the game. The devs practically get the players to add stuff for them. Many mods were added to a big patch because they were so popular

You don't have to do much trading at all in TC, you can get by just doing Station Defence missions really
further down the line when you have your own TL and some money, you get Build Missions, which can give stupidly high rewards (I got 100mil to build a factory that cost 400k...)
That's the only thing I didn't really like about TC anyway, way too easy to make money. I enjoyed it a bit more when I had to setup nice little factory complexs' to sell wares for me for income, but oh well

I found it hard to get money. i have little patience with trading in that game. so i would create a script using the in game script editor. giving me tons of cash and high standing to get awesome ships and i would go cause hell. hehe

Where's the fun in that? :/ It'd be like playing half-life 2 with god mode on.

Each to their own. i just wanted to fly what i wanted and shoot stuff. like trying to build up a fleet and take out one of the xenon sectors.(Very hard). Takes to long normal time so id cheat a little. Was the free play mode after all. Its like in operation flashpoint editor. i would create huge battles just to have a awesome fight in.

your problem would be with the sabre, that it doesnt have a rear turret.
If you use shift t, it will target the closest hostile - if there are missiles in the air, it will usually target those. missiles are very easy to shoot down, because their hitbox is HUGE..
As a note, I play tc on a laptop, granted usually with a joystick, although lately with my mouse (yay not bringing joystick to college >.> ) Also,I hope youve learned by now to sfrafe? it is a must have for avoiding missiles (and general combat tbh)..

I tried X2/X3, but I was seriously repelled by the interface. I can handle some amounts of interface abuse, but X2/X3 are really beyond my tolerance levels. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |

x3 > eve, when it comes to UI.. Until you start building a fleet.. then the property menu is near useless. Ah well, you could always write your own if you wanted. Gogo scripting!

Thank the gods that that form of moneymaking was nerfed.. It used to be completely possible to male billions off a combat mission, even if you were only in an m3... And had mad skills. I'm rather content with the state of x3tx at the moment.. Really seems to be in balance.

thread got me thinking about starting a new game lol. Any way to have all the sectors explored though? I must have spent a whole day just flying around all the sectors (including finding hidden gates) to have everything on my map...
